Unveiling the Nuances: How Fuzzy Set Analysis Illuminates Passenger Preferences for AI and Human Agents in Airline Customer Service

open access: yesTourism and Hospitality
This research tackles an essential gap in understanding how passengers prefer to interact with artificial intelligence (AI) or human agents in airline customer service contexts. Using a mixed-methods approach that combines statistical analysis with fuzzy

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Use of deep learning model for paediatric elbow radiograph binomial classification: initial experience, performance and lessons learnt

open access: yesSingapore Medical Journal
Introduction: In this study, we aimed to compare the performance of a convolutional neural network (CNN)-based deep learning model that was trained on a dataset of normal and abnormal paediatric elbow radiographs with that of paediatric emergency ...

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

298 Improving AI Assessment of Cutaneous Chronic Graft-Versus-Host Disease using Unlabeled Patient Photographs

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Translational Science
OBJECTIVES/GOALS: Measuring the area of skin involvement in chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) relies on costly, time-consuming manual assessment, with high disagreement among experts (>20%).

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.
