SpatialESD: Spatial Ensemble Domain Detection in Spatial Transcriptomics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Spatial transcriptomics (ST) measures gene expression while preserving spatial context within tissues. One of the key tasks in ST analysis is spatial domain detection, which remains challenging due to the complex structure of ST data and the varying performance of individual clustering methods. To address this, we propose SpatialESD, a Spatial

Oil‐Coated Nanoplastics Induce Rapid Membrane Disruption and Severe Intestinal Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Oil‐rich food contact dramatically amplifies MNP release from plastic takeout containers, producing oil‐coated nanoplastics with altered surface properties and rapid membrane‐disruptive effects. These particles cause severe intestinal barrier damage and immune dysfunction in mice, and risk modeling suggests that long‐term gastrointestinal burdens may ...

Neurofibromatosis type 1: Surgical Perspectives

open access: yesThe Annals of African Surgery, 2011
Introduction: Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) affects about 1 in 3000 people. The indications for surgical intervention in patients with NF1 are not always clear-cut.

HIV viral load suppression and associated factors among PLHIV with non-communicable diseases in Uganda’s Teso Region: a cross-sectional retrospective study

open access: yesAIDS Research and Therapy
Background As Uganda scales up integrated chronic care, understanding viral load suppression (VLS) among people living with HIV (PLHIV) with non-communicable diseases (NCDs) is critical for optimizing service delivery.

Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models for Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cancer immunotherapy faces challenges in predicting treatment responses and understanding resistance mechanisms. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) offer powerful solutions for cancer immunotherapy in patient stratification, biomarker discovery, treatment strategy optimization, and foundation model development.

The reliability of the AIC method in Cosmological Model Selection

open access: yes, 2012
The Akaike information criterion (AIC) has been used as a statistical criterion to compare the appropriateness of different dark energy candidate models underlying a particular data set.

Optimal Grazing Exclusion Duration to Enhance Soil Carbon Sequestration in Degraded Grasslands

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Across China, grazing exclusion reaches the national mean soil organic carbon recovery benchmark sooner in high‐MAP regions (> 500 mm), but recovery is much slower where MAP < 300 mm. Scaling this strategy to 70% of China's degraded grasslands would sequester about 1.52 Pg of soil carbon over 10 years—roughly 17% of annual global fossil‐fuel emissions.

Model Selection Criteria for the Leads-and-Lags Cointegrating Regression [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper, Mallows'(1973) Cp criterion, Akaike's (1973) AIC, Hurvich and Tsai's (1989) corrected AIC and the BIC of Akaike (1978) and Schwarz (1978) are derived for the leads-and-lags cointegrating regression.
