現在,民族共生象徴空間,通称ウポポイの準備が進められている。その目的のひとつとして,アイヌ文化の担い手の育成が挙げられているなど,アイヌ文化に注目が集まっている。しかし,それぞれの地域のアイヌ文化伝承を担うアイヌ文化保存会の活動はほとんど明らかにされてこなかった。そこで,本稿ではアイヌ文化保存会の会長などの代表者に対するインタビュー調査を行った。まず明らかになったのは,アイヌ文化保存会が設立されていく当初から,アイヌ文化保存会同士のアイヌ・ネットワークが,それぞれの地域の文化伝承を支えてきたことである。
