Stepped spillway flow: Comparison of numerical and scale models [PDF]
This paper deals with flow modelling of the stepped spillway for the Bogovina dam. The analysis was conducted using three approaches: scalemodelling, empirical equations and numerical modelling.

A new method compares both kilometer and sub‐kilometre weather model simulations with Doppler lidar observations to assess the representation of boundary‐layer turbulence. While bulk boundary‐layer properties are well represented, vertical velocity variance is strongly underestimated in both simulations.

This study investigates the statistical characteristics of recurving tropical cyclones (TCs) over the western North Pacific (WNP). We find that recurving TCs are, on average, 38% stronger than non‐recurving TCs, owing to longer ocean exposure, fewer landfalls, and passage through warmer, more favorable thermal environments.

With a minimal physics model and a high‐resolution fully 3D simulation, we demonstrate that the marine atmospheric boundary layer (MABL) response to sea‐surface temperature (SST) variability displays a dependence on the horizontal scales of motion.

Interpretation of the Result of a Traditional Salt-Frost Scaling Test
Frost damage on the concrete surface might be aggravated when freezing occurs in the presence of a salt solution, like sea water or de-icing salt. A possible mechanism behind this combination of frost and salt is discussed.

Wavelet covariance approach to measure convective boundary‐layer structure
This study introduces a wavelet‐based framework that applies the Haar discrete wavelet transform (DWT) to radiosonde profiles of potential temperature and water vapor mixing ratio for diagnosing convective boundary‐layer (CBL) structure. The method objectively identifies key CBL parameters, including the surface‐layer height, entrainment zone depth ...

This study presents a conceptual framework linking sea‐water temperature Tw gradients to the formation and persistence of sea fog in the southeastern Yellow Sea. Over cold waters maintained by tidal mixing, downward latent heat flux enhances lower‐level stability and sustains persistent sea fog, whereas over warmer waters, upward fluxes and thermal ...

River Ice Processes Modelling: A Comprehensive Review
ABSTRACT River ice strongly influences hydrology, hydrodynamics, and ecosystems in cold regions, with an impact on flooding, hydropower generation, navigation, and aquatic habitats. Modeling river ice processes is therefore essential for both scientific understanding and operational management.
