Experimental Study on Intelligent Control Scheme for Fan Coil Air-Conditioning System

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2013
An intelligent control scheme for fan coil air-conditioning systems has been put forward in order to overcome the shortcomings of the traditional proportion-integral-derivative (PID) control scheme.

Automated cleaning of fan coil units with a natural detergent-disinfectant product

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical Microbiology and Antimicrobials, 2010
Background Air conditioning systems represent one important source of microbial pollutants for indoor air. In the past few years, numerous strategies have been conceived to reduce the contamination of air conditioners, mainly in hospital settings.

AC Loss Reduction in HTS Coil Windings Coupled With an Iron Core Using Flux Diverters

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
Iron cores are widely employed in high temperature superconducting (HTS) power devices to enhance the magnetic field and improve the power density. In spite of these benefits, the presence of iron cores leads to a substantial increase in AC loss within ...

The effect of favourable and unfavourable frost on air cooling coil performance : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Technology, at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The most common type of air cooling coil used in the refrigeration industry is the finned tube heat exchanger. The performance of such coils can be greatly hindered by frost formation, which will occur when the coil surface temperature is both below the ...

On fully superconducting rectifiers and fluxpumps. A review. Part 2: Commutation modes, characteristics and switches [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
This paper forms the second part of the review. Full and half wave superconducting transformer rectifiers are analysed. Modes of operation and loss mechanisms are detailed and a comparison between the behaviour of dynamos and rectifiers is presented ...

Homologous expression and purification of human HAX‐1 for structural studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This research protocol provides detailed instructions for cloning, expressing, and purifying large quantities of the intrinsically disordered human HAX‐1 protein, N‐terminally fused to a cleavable superfolder GFP, from mammalian cells. HAX‐1 is predicted to undergo posttranslational modifications and to interact with membranes, various cellular ...

Aerosolization of Aspergillus niger spores from colonies on different positions of a circular tube [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
Subject to the blowing air, fungal spores can be aerosolized from the colonies growing on cooling coils. The blowing air may accelerate and decelerate when passing a coil.

Suspension Design, Modeling, and Testing of a Thermo-Acoustic-Driven Linear Alternator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The Score-Stove™ generates electricity from a wood-burning cooking stove using a thermo-acoustic engine (TAE) that converts heat to sound through a linear alternator (LA).

SmallTalk: a novel small‐sized fusion tag for peptide expression and purification

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The SmallTalk fusion tag allows for the efficient expression and purification of soluble recombinant proteins or peptides in Escherichia coli. Testing with SmallTalk‐GFP confirmed that the proteins were soluble and folded correctly, while SmallTalk‐Bin1b maintained its antimicrobial activity against various bacterial isolates. This streamlined workflow

Design of an Integrated Air Coil for Current Sensing [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics, 2020
This article proposes a design procedure of an integrated air coil in a laminated bus bar for current sensing. The concept is based on an air coil inserted into the insulators inside the laminated bus bar, avoiding the use of intrusive current sensors with an additional stray inductance.
