A New Type of Cooling-Air Generator for Cooling-Air Grinding

Advanced Materials Research, 2010
Cooling-air grinding is one sustainably alternative processing technology to traditional grinding. In order to study the discipline and characteristic of cooling-air grinding, a new type of cooling-air generator for cooling-air grinding was designed and set up in the paper.

Startup of air-cooled condensers and dry cooling towers at low temperatures of the cooling air

Thermal Engineering, 2016
The problems of startup and performance of air-cooled condensers (ACC) and dry cooling towers (DCT) at low cooling air temperatures are considered. Effects of the startup of the ACC at sub-zero temperatures are described. Different options of the ACC heating up are analyzed, and examples of existing technologies are presented (electric heating, heating

Experimental study on the evaporative cooling of an air-cooled condenser with humidifying air

Heat and Mass Transfer, 2013
Using six different materials to construct a water curtain, this study aims to determine the most effective spray cooling of an air cooled heat exchanger under wet conditions. The experiments were carried out at a mass flow rate of 0.005–0.01 kg/s (spraying water), an airspeed of 0.6–2.4 m/s and a run time of 0–72 h for the material degradation tests ...

Thermotechnical performance of an air-cooled tuyere with air cooling channels in series

Heat and Mass Transfer, 2016
To reduce the cooling air consumption for an air-cooled tuyere, an air-cooled tuyere with air cooling channels in series is developed based on several hypotheses, i.e., a transparent medium in the blast furnace, among others, and the related mathematical models are introduced and developed.

Air-sources, supply and cooling

Ergonomics, 1988
Abstract A general overview is presented of the alternative methods of supplying air to conditioned garments. Both compressed air and low-pressure, high-volume air systems are described and many of the aspects involved in the design of the system are discussed, e.g.

Air-Cooled Engines in Service

The Journal of the Royal Aeronautical Society, 1928
It is now rather more than three years since I last had the honour of presenting a paper before this Society dealing with air-cooled aero engines. At that time the air-cooled engine had not fully won a place “in the sun,” which may be fairly stated to be the case to-day.For some years after the war there was a considerable aversion towards the air ...

Air cooled damper

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1982
An air cooled torsional vibration damper utilizing air passages for producing circulation of cooling air. An inertia ring of a composite construction includes a high thermal conductivity metal adjacent a heat producing elastomer, and a denser metal ring adds mass.

The Principles of Air Cooling

Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 1933
The Nature of the Boundary Layer The changes of velocity in an air stream at points close to a surface past which it is flowing have been calculated by Blasius and von Karman for the surfaces of a thin plate placed edgewise to the stream; and they have also been directly measured by Fage and Falkner close to the surfaces of an aerofoil, by means of an ...

Adiabatic pre-cooling of the inlet air to an air-cooled heat exchanger

1996
The use of adiabatic pre-cooling to regulate the temperature of the inlet air to an air-cooled heat exchanger during periods of high ambient temperatures is investigated theoretically and experimentally. Pre-cooling is achieved by spraying a rotary atomiser generated water mist into the air stream.

Air cooled loudspeaker

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1990
An electrical blower is used to pass cooling air through a loudspeaker driver. The blower is connected in parallel to the leads between the amplifier and speaker such that the blower speed and cooling increases with increased power consumption and heat generation by the driver.
