Cold air performance of a 12.766-centimeter-tip-diameter axial-flow cooled turbine. 2: Effect of air ejection on turbine performance [PDF]

open access: yes
An air cooled version of a single-stage, axial-flow turbine was investigated to determine aerodynamic performance with and without air ejection from the stator and rotor blades surfaces to simulate the effect of cooling air discharge.

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Innovating Aircraft Repair Processes: The Role of Digitalization in Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This research explores how digitalization—by storing detailed non‐destructive testing data in structured DICONDE databases and creating a standard data model of the component—innovates aviation maintenance and repair processes. Coupled with a developed state‐based simulation model, it enables data‐driven, sustainable repair strategies that reduce waste,

Design and operating parameters of a fulidized bed for the combustion of municipal solid waste using standpipes air distributors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Hydrodynamic studies and combustion of simulated and actual municipal solid waste were carried out in a fluidized bed system. A wide range of parameters was investigated in hydrodynamic study after which the optimum parameters were implemented in the ...

Air flow characteristics in vinyl air duct.

open access: yesShigen-to-Sozai, 1989
Measurements were conducted to clarify the air flow characteristics in vinyl air ducts when they are used for forcing ventilation. The results of the investigation are summarized as follows:(1) The pressure loss depends greatly on the deformation of cross section of the ducts, especially that of the outlet.(2) The velocity distribution in the ducts are

Exhaled air dispersion during high-flow nasal cannula therapy versus CPAP via different masks

open access: yesEuropean Respiratory Journal, 2019
Background High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) is an emerging therapy for respiratory failure but the extent of exhaled air dispersion during treatment is unknown.

Variably positioned guide vanes for aerodynamic choking [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
A choking device to cause a sonic barrier to be formed which reduces the transmission of noise in a direction opposed to the direction of air flow in a compressor that may be part of an aircraft gas turbine engine is described.
