Electrocatalytic Reduction of CO2 to Ethylene: Catalyst Design and Synchrotron‐Based Characterizations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review evaluates strategies for electrochemical CO2 reduction to ethylene, focusing on copper‐based catalyst design and microenvironment modulation to achieve industrial‐grade performance. By leveraging operando synchrotron‐based characterizations, we provide a multiscale understanding of dynamic structural transformations and key reaction ...

On the measurement of air permeability.

open access: yesNetherlands Journal of Agricultural Science, 1987
Air pemeability values are used to assess the state of aeration, soil structural stability, structural degradation and compaction. A simple experimental procedure, using a constant-speed motor, a syringe and simple pressure sensors, is discussed. At steady-state air flow throught a soil sample the air permeability coefficient can be derived directly ...

Breathable Graphene Oxide‐Polymer Composite Membranes With Two‐Step Barrier Mechanism Against Nerve Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Breathable membranes that reject chemical warfare agents (CWAs) are required for next‐generation protective apparel. A dual‐function graphene oxide (GO)‐polyamine architecture is introduced that addresses the long‐standing tradeoff between vapor transmission and CWA selectivity.

Understanding the Role of Superhydrophobicity and Superhydrophilicity in Salt‐Spray Corrosion of Nanosecond Pulsed Laser‐Textured AA2024 Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nanosecond pulse laser texturing yields superhydrophobic and superhydrophilic AA2024 surfaces. Salt‐spray tests show that periodic superhydrophobic patterns suppress pitting, whereas superhydrophilic textures enhance it, linking laser‐induced morphology, wettability, and oxide chemistry to corrosion resistance.

Temperature dependence of core loss in cobalt substituted Ni-Zn-Cu ferrites

open access: yes, 2010
The temperature dependence of core loss in cobalt substituted Ni-Zn-Cu ferrites was investigated. Co2+ ions are known to lead to a compensation of the magneto-crystalline anisotropy in Ni-Zn ferrites, at a temperature depending on the cobalt content and ...

The Cuttlebone Blueprint for Multifunctional Metamaterials: Design Taxonomy, Functional Decoupling, and Future Horizons

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cuttlebone‐inspired metamaterials exploit a septum‐wall architecture to achieve excellent mechanical and functional properties. This review classifies existing designs into direct biomimetic, honeycomb‐type, and strut‐type architectures, summarizes governing design principles, and presents a decoupled design framework for interpreting multiphysical ...

Computational and in vitro studies of blast-induced blood-brain barrier disruption

open access: yes, 2015
There is growing concern that blast-exposed individuals are at risk of developing neurological disorders later in life. Therefore, it is important to understand the dynamic properties of blast forces on brain cells, including the endothelial cells that ...

Microfluidic Platform for Multiparametric Profiling of Fibrin Permeability, Fibrinolysis, and Cell Invasion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This paper introduces a single‐channel H‐junction microfluidic assay that profiles fibrin's evolving function in repair and thrombosis by measuring, in one ∼3 µL gel, permeability, fibrinolysis kinetics, fibroblast invasion, and clot extension in real time.
