Hazardous air pollutants and telomere length in the Sister Study
Background. Telomeres are vital for genomic integrity and telomere length has been linked to many adverse health outcomes. Some hazardous air pollutants, or air toxics, increase oxidative stress and inflammation, two possible determinants of shortened ...

Abstract Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) remain the leading cause of global mortality, necessitating effective preventive and adjunct therapeutic strategies beyond conventional pharmacological interventions. Although previous reviews have focused on individual nutrients or dietary patterns, this review provides a mechanism‐based, integrative perspective

Statistical methods for the determination of noncompliance with occupational health standards [PDF]
"Procedures are presented for determining if the 95% Lower Confidence Limit of the concentration of a contaminant in an occupational environmental air sample or the arithmetic average for a group of such samples exceeds an occupational health standard ...

Long-term exposure to ambient air pollution and metabolic syndrome in adults [PDF]
Air pollutants (AP) play a role in subclinical inflammation, and are associated with cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is inflammatory and precedes cardiovascular morbidity and type 2 diabetes. Thus, a positive association

Associations between outdoor air pollution and cancers other than lung cancer remain unclear, particularly in the context of tobacco use. Here, the authors assessed possible links between ambient air pollutant exposure and incidence of 20 non‐lung cancers among adults followed over a 25‐year period in the United States.

Plasmid‐like DNA sequences frequently found in bovine milk and serum have been proposed as infectious agents promoting indirect carcinogenesis. This multi‐omics study detected immune cells positive for these bovine meat and milk factors (BMMFs) in patients with lung cancer, with BMMF expression inversely correlated with smoking intensity.
