Radioactive Aerosols as an Index of Air Pollution in the City of Thessaloniki, Greece
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010This study summarizes results of an investigation done in order to find out how the radioactive aerosols of 7Be could serve as indicators of air pollution conditions. Beryllium‐7 is a cosmic‐ray produced radionuclide with an important fraction of its production to take place in the upper troposphere.

Measurement of alpha radioactive air pollutants in fly ash brick dwellings
Radiation Measurements, 2003Abstract The exposure of population to high concentrations of radon and its daughters for a long period lead to pathological effects like the respiratory functional changes and the occurrence of lung cancer. In the present study indoor radon monitoring has been carried out in fly ash brick dwellings in some villages/towns of district Faridabad ...

Experimental study of backflow air leakage through an opening from a depressurized enclosure
Journal of Nuclear Science and Technology, 2022In nuclear decommissioning and dismantling operations, a dynamic confinement is applied to all openings in order to prevent the transfer of pollutants outside depressurized enclosures and to insure the safety of workers. To guarantee an efficient dynamic

Statistical Analysis for Air Quality Assessment and Evaluation: A Data Mining Approach
2021 9th International Conference on Reliability, Infocom Technologies and Optimization (Trends and Future Directions) (ICRITO), 2021In this era of the industrial revolution, air Pollution is emerging as the most concerning problem specifically in developing countries. This air pollution considers the escalation of several pollutants in the air like nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide ...

Specific features of the ionization of atmospheric air resulting from radioactive pollution
Technical Physics, 2000Specific features of inhomogeneous ionization resulting from radioactive pollution in the lower atmosphere are investigated. A model of track ionization of air is proposed that allows for such elementary processes as kinetics, molecular diffusion, and drift of ions in an electric field. The applicability limits of the model are determined.

Abstract By using a simple model of the atmosphere, having two compartments, it is possible to derive expressions for the fission product reservoirs of the northern and southern hemispheres as functions of the gross rate of exchange between hemispheres, and the fallout rate.
