Paving the Way to Elucidate Hg's Role in Tumorigenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tumorigenesis can result from diverse environmental carcinogens. Among them, mercury—a lifelong bioaccumulative Group 2B carcinogen—has tumorigenic potential that remains poorly understood due to confounding co‐exposures and limited organ‐specific data.

Using Geographically Referenced Data on Environmental Exposures for Public Health Research: A Feasibility Study Based on the German Socio-Economic Panel Study (SOEP) [PDF]

open access: yes
Background: In panel datasets information on environmental exposures is scarce. Thus, our goal was to probe the use of area-wide geographically referenced data for air pollution from an external data source in the analysis of physical health.

Machine Learning for Green Solvents: Assessment, Selection and Substitution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Environmental regulations have intensified demand for green solvents, but discovery is limited by Solvent Selection Guides (SSGs) that quantify solvent sustainability. Training a machine learning model on GlaxoSmithKline SSG, a database of sustainability metrics for 10,189 solvents, GreenSolventDB is developed. Integrated with Hansen solubility metrics,

Morbidity and pollution: model specification analysis for time-series data on hospital admissions [PDF]

open access: yes
Time-series analysis of effects of pollutants on emergency hospital admissions indicates important synergistic interactions among pollutants and to a lesser degree nonlinearities in effects of single pollutants.

Modeling of Generic Air Pollution Dispersion Analysis from Cement Factory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Air pollution from cement factory is classified as one of the sources of air pollution. The control of the air pollution by addressing the wind field dynamics was the main objective of the paper.

KCNJ2 is Required for NLRP3 Inflammasome Activation That Drives Allergic Airway Inflammation and Remodeling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study aims to evaluate the impact of the potassium channel KCNJ2 on asthma development. KCNJ2 promotes NLRP3 inflammasome activation through both Ca2+ influx and K+ efflux in airway epithelial cells, which drives allergic airway inflammation and remodeling, suggesting a promising therapeutic target for asthma.
