Thule-2007 - Investigation of radioactive pollution on land [PDF]
A survey of radioactive pollution on land in the Thule area from an airplane accident in 1968 was carried out during 2007 and 2008. The results show levels of plutonium in soil at Narsaarsuk ranging from background values around 39 Bq m-2 up to levels of

Localisation and mobility of trace metal in silver fir needles [PDF]
Trace metals (TM: Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd, and Pb) as well as Al, Mn, and Fe content was measured in needles of a remote silver fir stand in the south of France. TM localisation and behaviour in needles was evaluated by measuring total and internal content of

Brain strain: Blood flow and metabolism in environmental extremes
Abstract This narrative review compares and contrasts the most commonly encountered environmental stressors on human cerebrovascular functioning. From high altitude and space, extreme apnoea, heat and cold stress, the impact of these stressors on the regulation of cerebral blood flow (CBF) and oxygen metabolism (CMRO2${\mathrm{CM}}{{\mathrm{R}}_ ...

Role of Unsaturated Zone on Aquifer Leakage–Assessed With Tidal Response
Abstract Tidal response analysis is widely used to evaluate aquifer systems, but traditional models that neglect the unsaturated zone often underestimate groundwater leakage. This study develops a new analytical model for tidal analysis that incorporates unsaturated zone effects and explained leakage patterns that traditional models could not resolve ...

Cartoon representation of five major classes of metalloproteins and their brief mechanisms of bioremediation. The five classes include metallothioneins, metal‐precipitating enzymes, P.‐type ATPases, protein cages, and synthetic metalloproteins (de novo‐designed proteins/peptides for selective adsorption). These natural and engineered protein structures

Tracking of [14C]Polystyrene Nanoplastics in Pregnant Mice
This study investigates [14C]polystyrene nanoplastic ([14C]PS) translocation in late‐stage pregnant mice after intranasal (0.5 mg of [14C]PS on GD12, GD14, and GD16, n = 6) and intravenous administration (1.5 mg of [14C]PS on GD16, n = 6). 14C‐radiolabel allows quantitative tracking of unmodified polystyrene nanoplastics.

Robust Control Using a Matrix Converter to Enhance Wind Turbine Systems
This study uses a more efficient and effective solution to improve the operational performance of a wind turbine‐based power system. This system uses a doubly fed induction generator and relies on a matrix converter and fractional‐order proportional–integral controller.
