Organic Photo‐Responsive Piezoelectric Materials Based on Pyrene Molecules for Flexible Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
An organic, pyrene‐based non‐centrosymmetric crystal, PyPT, is introduced, showcasing excellent piezoelectric behavior with a high‐output electrical signal, rapid response time, and a substantial piezoelectric coefficient. The piezoelectric sensors demonstrate the ability to recognize physical sound characteristics ‐ such as amplitude, frequency, and ...

Designer Electrocatalysts for the Oxygen Reduction Reaction with Controlled Platinum Nanoparticle Locality

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Pt/C catalysts differing only in the locality of the Pt nanoparticles, whether inside or outside of the pores of the same carbon support, are needed to study the effect of said locality. Depending on the carbon support used, nanoparticles inside the pores can show hindered accessibility and ORR performance.

Impact of Transition Metals and Electrocatalyst Layer Thickness on the Pt‐Based Cathodes of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells – Do Multimetallic Electrocatalysts Necessarily Yield an Improved Performance?

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Nonnoble transition‐metals (TMs) in PtCuNi/C catalysts have a dual influence in proton‐exchange membrane fuel cell cathode catalyst layer. While TMs act as a “sacrificial component” of PtCuNi/C, inhibiting Pt dissolution from the PtMx nanoparticles bearing the active sites, they promote the formation of separate catalysts and ionomer domains in the ...

Polymeric Layered Films for TiO2‐Au/CuS Tandem Photothermal Catalytic H2 Production in Harsh Seawater and Waste Plastic Media

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
A spatially decoupled, polymeric passivated catalytic system is designed to facilitate pivotal photoprocesses such as photothermal, photogeneration‐charge separation, and redox at distinct locations. The proposed polymeric tandem photothermal catalytic (PTPC) film consists of TiO2/Au photocatalytic and CuS photothermal layers, spatially separated and ...
