Effect of Seasonal Variation on the Levels and Behaviours of Formaldehyde in the Atmosphere of a Suburban Area in Cairo, Egypt

open access: yesAsian Journal of Atmospheric Environment, 2018
Formaldehyde (HCHO) is a carcinogenic pollutant, has an active role in tropospheric photochemistry, and can be affected by seasonal variations. To our knowledge, this is the first comprehensive study of the effect of seasonal variation on the levels and ...

Aim in Climate Change and City Pollution [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
The sustainability of urban environments is an increasingly relevant problem. Air pollution plays a key role in the degradation of the environment as well as the health of the citizens exposed to it. In this chapter we provide a review of the methods available to model air pollution, focusing on the application of machine-learning methods.

Active Thermal Field Integration for Marangoni‐Driven Salt Rejection and Water Collection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A thermal gradient fabric (TGF) evaporator with an auxiliary active thermal field can simultaneously increase evaporation rates and achieve long‐term salt rejection. The auxiliary active thermal field is well integrated with solar energy to construct moderate, extensive, and circulating Marangoni flow for salt rejection.

Traffic-related air pollution and obesity formation in children: a longitudinal, multilevel analysis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
BackgroundBiologically plausible mechanisms link traffic-related air pollution to metabolic disorders and potentially to obesity. Here we sought to determine whether traffic density and traffic-related air pollution were positively associated with growth

Impact of Sea Breeze Circulation on the Transport of Ship Emissions in Tangshan Port, China

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2019
A sea breeze is a local circulation that occurs in coastal regions from the poles to the equator. The adverse influence of ship emissions on air quality in coastal areas may be aggravated by the onshore flow of sea breeze circulation.

Air pollution associated acute respiratory inflammation and modification by GSTM1 and GSTT1 gene polymorphisms: a panel study of healthy undergraduates

open access: yesEnvironmental Health, 2023
Epidemiological evidence has linked air pollution with adverse respiratory outcomes, but the mechanisms underlying susceptibility to air pollution remain unclear. This study aimed to investigate the role of glutathione S-transferase (GST) polymorphism in
