Molecular characterization and lesions associated with Diomedenema diomedeae (Aproctoidea: Desmidocercidae) from grey-headed albatrosses (Thalassarche chrysostoma) on Subantarctic Marion Island

open access: yesInternational Journal for Parasitology: Parasites and Wildlife, 2018
The Prince Edward Islands are Subantarctic islands in the southwest Indian Ocean that are of global importance as seabird nesting sites, and are breeding grounds for five species of albatrosses (Procellariiformes: Diomedeidae).

A Printed Zinc‐Ion Microbattery with Extended Shelf Life and Durability for Energy Autonomous Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a fully printed aqueous zinc‐ion microbattery (ZnIB) enabled by graphene‐decorated zinc anode and printed MnO@NC cathode using sustainable aqueous‐based ink formulations. The printed 3D electrodes ensure uniform zinc deposition, low overpotential, and long‐term stability.

Water Transfer by The Toad Bladder

open access: yesJurnal Agripet, 2000
. Studies have been made on the isolated urinary bladder of the toad, Bufo marinus, in an attempt to investigate the effect of vasopressin on the permeability of water from mucosal surface to serosal surface of the toad bladder.

Single‐ and Dual‐Atom Configurations in Atomically Dispersed Catalysts for Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐atom and dual‐atom‐based atomically dispersed catalysts (ADCs) effectively address the shuttle effect and sluggish redox kinetics in Li–S batteries. With nearly 100% atomic utilization and tunable coordination environments, ADCs enhance LiPSs adsorption, lower conversion barriers, and accelerate sulfur redox reactions.

Targeting Post‐Irradiation Thyroid Dysfunction: Electrospun Scaffolds As A Dual‐Action Approach for Antioxidant and Immune Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Radiation‐induced hypothyroidism follows head and neck radiotherapy due to oxidative stress and inflammation. Electrospun polycaprolactone scaffolds containing adenosine have potential to modulate thyroid repair. Scaffolds enhance thyrocyte proliferation, antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and catalase, reduce senescence and apoptosis markers ...

Precise Control of Drug Release in Machine Learning‐Designed Antibody‐Eluting Implants for Postoperative Scarring Inhibition in Glaucoma

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We developed a micro‐sized, biocompatible implant for postoperative sustained delivery of anti‐fibrotic antibodies in glaucoma surgery. Machine learning‐guided optimization of polymer composition, implant geometry, and porosity enabled precise control of drug release.

Achieving pH-universal oxygen electrolysis via synergistic density and coordination tuning over biomass-derived Fe single-atom catalyst

open access: yesNature Communications
Renewable biomass serves as a cost-effective source of carbon matrix to carry single-atom catalysts (SACs). However, the natural abundant oxygen in these materials hinders the sufficient dispersion of element with high oxygen affinity such iron (Fe). The

Lissonema sicki, an emerging air sac nematode of European owls: introduction, host switching and rapid establishment on a Mediterranean island

open access: yesParasitology
In recent years, air sac parasitic helminths have been reported to cause severe disease in birds. In addition, various species appear to be expanding and infecting new avian hosts in various regions worldwide.

Aqueous Two‐Phase Bioinks for Discrete Packing and Compartmentalization of 3D Bioprinted Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Aqueous two‐phase systems (ATPS) enable the formation of biomimetic interfaces crucial for tissue engineering. However, clinical translation remains limited by the challenge of precisely controlling cellular compartmentalization. Here, we developed ATPS biomaterial inks for 3D bioprinting allowing tuneable droplet formation via NaCl modulation.
