Airborne Bacterial Communities in Three East Asian Cities of China, South Korea, and Japan

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
The global diversity of airborne bacteria has not yet been studied, despite its importance in human health and climate change. Here, we focused on the diversity of airborne bacteria and their correlations with meteorological/environmental conditions in ...

Pig Farmers’ Homes Harbor More Diverse Airborne Bacterial Communities Than Pig Stables or Suburban Homes

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Airborne bacterial communities are subject to conditions ill-suited to microbial activity and growth. In spite of this, air is an important transfer medium for bacteria, with the bacteria in indoor air having potentially major consequences for the health

Diurnal Variations of Size‐Resolved Bioaerosols During Autumn and Winter Over a Semi‐Arid Megacity in Northwest China

open access: yesGeoHealth, 2021
Bioaerosols have a major negative effect on air quality and on public health by causing the spread of diseases. This study evaluated the bioaerosol composition and variation in a semi‐arid megacity of northwest China from October 2019 to January 2020 ...

Detection of airborne Campylobacter with three bioaerosol samplers for alarming bacteria transmission in broilers. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In an airborne transmission experiment, Campylobacter in the air was sampled by three types of bioaerosol samplers (all-glass impinger AGI-30, Andersen six-stage impactor, and OMNI-3000) in four broiler rooms.

The Plant‐to‐Plant Circular Strategy: Coupling Photodegradation and Phytoremediation With Plant‐Based Nanomaterials for Plastic Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Plant‐based nanomaterials derived from alfalfa serve as dual‐function catalysts, coupling photodegradation and phytoremediation to degrade polyethylene under UV‐A light and in soil. The nanomaterials work synergistically with alfalfa and soil microbes, achieving efficient plastic breakdown without trophic transfer.

Deep Learning‐Driven Discovery and Engineering of an Efficient PETase for Depolymerization and Detoxification of PET Microplastics Under Physiological Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A deep learning–driven pipeline mining 246 million protein sequences uncovers AhPETase, an evolutionarily distinct PET hydrolase. Engineered variant AhPETaseM1 degrades post‐consumer PET microplastics under physiological conditions and reverses microplasticinduced cytotoxicity in human lung and colon cells, establishing enzymatic microplastic ...
