Sea floor classification with satellite data and airborne lidar bathymetry
SPIE Proceedings, 2013While land maps of vegetation cover and substrate types exist, similar underwater maps are rare or almost non-existing. We developed the use of airborne bathymetric lidar mapping and high resolution satellite data to a combined method for shallow sea floor classification.

Integration Potential of INFOMAR Airborne LIDAR Bathymetry with External Onshore LIDAR Data Sets
Journal of Coastal Research, 2011Abstract Light detection and ranging (LIDAR) data are used for a wide array of purposes in the coastal zone. This can result in LIDAR data being collected multiple times in order to meet the specific needs of different agencies. This paper assesses the potential for airborne LIDAR bathymetry (ALB) and topographic LIDAR to be integrated for use in ...

Co-aligned dual wavelength circular scanner for airborne lidar bathymetry
Laser Radar Technology and Applications XXIV, 2019A dual-wavelength circular scanner with collinear transmit and receive axes has been developed for use in the SEAHAWK bathymetric lidar. The scanner optics consist of an achromatic prism pair located concentrically within a 11.3” diameter dual-zone holographic optical element (HOE). This scanner achieves coaligned green and infrared beams at a 20° off-

Mosaicing of airborne LiDAR bathymetry strips based on Monte Carlo matching
Marine Geophysical Research, 2017This study proposes a new methodology for mosaicing airborne light detection and ranging (LiDAR) bathymetry (ALB) data based on Monte Carlo matching. Various errors occur in ALB data due to imperfect system integration and other interference factors.

The successful application of Airborne LiDAR Bathymetry surveys using latest technology
2012 Oceans - Yeosu, 2012This paper describes the development of the Fugro LADS Mk 3 Airborne LiDAR Bathymetry (ALB) system and demonstrates how the coastal zone can be surveyed faster and more cost effectively, by collecting high quality data across a wide range of environmental conditions.

Processing of airborne lidar bathymetry data for detailed sea floor mapping
SPIE Proceedings, 2014Airborne bathymetric lidar has proven to be a valuable sensor for rapid and accurate sounding of shallow water areas. With advanced processing of the lidar data, detailed mapping of the sea floor with various objects and vegetation is possible. This mapping capability has a wide range of applications including detection of mine-like objects, mapping ...

Mapping coral reef complexes using airborne LiDAR bathymetry technology
OCEANS'11 MTS/IEEE KONA, 2011Underwater mapping based on a green laser LiDAR bathymetry system from the air has been a proven productive technique since the early 1990's. The airborne LiDAR bathymetry (ALB) technology has been applied to the global range of marine and coastal environments and from the Arctic to the Tropics.
