Simulation and Auralization of Airborne Sound Insulation
2020As previous chapters dealt with virtual environments with sound in free-field and in enclosures (room acoustics, Sect. 11.7), situations with partition walls and complete buildings will be discussed in this chapter. This concerns the field of classical building acoustics as part of architectural acoustics.

An algorithm for auralization of airborne sound insulation
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1999On the basis of a prediction model for airborne sound insulation (EN 12354-1), a signal processing tool was developed for auralization of indoor and outdoor noise in receiving rooms. For this purpose the direct transmission and four flanking paths were taken into account according to their one-third octave band data.

Evaluating airborne sound insulation in terms of speech intelligibility
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2008This paper reports on an evaluation of ratings of the sound insulation of simulated walls in terms of the intelligibility of speech transmitted through the walls. Subjects listened to speech modified to simulate transmission through 20 different walls with a wide range of sound insulation ratings, with constant ambient noise.

Airborne radar depth sounding of fast flowing glaciers
2009 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2009Sea-level rise will affect populations worldwide with considerable and lasting consequences in the not-too-distant future. Accurate measurement of fast flowing outlet glaciers in Greenland and Antarctica are of vital importance to ice sheet models that predict the course of sea-level rise.

Distance measurement using airborne sound
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1986Inspection of manufactured material and components often involves characterization of size or shape. If large quantities of components must be inspected, as is usually the case on a production line, a rapid automated inspection process is desirable. This presentation reviews the use of airborne ultrasound as the basis for such a system.
