Technical Note: Airborne Sound Insulation of Hollow Brickwork

Building Acoustics, 2007
This paper reports on the uncertainty of in situ measurements of the airborne sound insulation of hollow-brick walls in different housing plans, with emphasis on the influence of expansion joints. The mean and standard deviation of multiple measurements are obtained, which show significant differences in insulation values despite the fact that the same

Group subjective ratings of airborne sound insulation

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1999
This paper will compare various sound insulation measures as predictors of the grouped subjective ratings obtained from a field survey of 600 subjects and the airborne sound insulation of their 300 party walls. The subjects lived in both row housing and multi-floor apartment buildings in three different Canadian cities.

The airborne sound insulation of glass: Part 1

Applied Acoustics, 1971
Abstract This paper is to be published in three consecutive issues of Applied Acoustics . This first part is a brief survey of the theory and practice of the measurement of the sound insulation of glass. In Part 2 the effects of changes in the various parameters will be discussed.

A new method for auralisation of airborne sound insulation

Applied Acoustics, 2013
Abstract Auralisation techniques have quickly grown in popularity during the last few years, mostly due to their application in virtual reality, the gaming industry and room acoustics. The application of auralisation to sound insulation has also become a valuable tool to assess the sound insulation of buildings, and to suitably describe to the non ...

Effects of thermal insulation on the airborne sound insulation of AAC masonry walls

ce/papers, 2018
AbstractInsulation systems change the acoustic properties of solid walls. A thermal insulation can have positive or negative effects on the airborne sound insulation. The behavior of heavier walls (e.g., calcium silicate bricks or clay bricks) is very well documented.

A study of measuring techniques for airborne sound insulation in buildings

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1972
Abstract Some comparison measurements of airborne sound insulation have been made in a laboratory house, with 12 organizations taking part. Using their current procedures resulted in a large spread in the results obtained, due to differences in equipment and techniques.
