Medicane characteristics from high‐resolution satellite radar observations

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
This study uses high‐resolution observations from satellite synthetic aperture radar (SAR) to reveal that medicanes, cyclones with tropical features in the Mediterranean basin, have dynamical characteristics with attributes comparable with those of tropical cyclones of similar intensities, but smaller outer sizes and Rossby numbers.

Evaluating the realism of double moment parameterised particle size distributions in a midlatitude frontal ice cloud with complex microphysics

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Uncertainties in the representation of ice particle size distributions (PSDs) cause inaccuracies in parameterisations of clouds. In this study, observed PSDs from a midlatitude frontal case study are compared with gamma PSDs with the same concentration and ice water content.

Monitoring wildlife using long‐endurance solar‐electric UAVs

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
This report discusses the effectiveness of using small solar‐electric UAV (uncrewed aerial vehicles) for aerial wildlife monitoring. We review four years of aerial wildlife monitoring missions using a 5.5‐m wingspan, solar‐electric UAV that was equipped with a gimballed IR/RGB camera.

Estimating Body Lengths of Airborne Insects Using S-Band Polarimetric Weather Radar

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Weather radars enable the monitoring of airborne insects over spatial scales ranging from hundreds to thousands of kilometers. Quantitative information on migration intensity and spatial distribution can be obtained from weather radar observations ...

Airborne Weather Surveillance Radars for Increasing Air Transport Safety

open access: yesTransportation Research Procedia, 2017
Abstract The main focus of this paper is aimed at the possibilities of mutual influence of ground and airborne weather surveillance radars (WSR) from the operation in approximately same frequency band viewpoint. Specialized technical and legal details of the problem are being discussed in the paper.

From Palestine Ally to Zionist Partner: India‐Israel Relations, 2014–2025

open access: yesMiddle East Policy, EarlyView.
Abstract India's pro‐Palestinian diplomatic posture, which held for nearly 70 years, has been transformed within a single decade of rule by the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), turning New Delhi into one of Israel's most consequential Asian partners. This shift has narrowed the coalition supporting the Palestinian cause.

Ground Clutter Suppression with Dual-threshold Controlled Method for Airborne Weather Radar

open access: yesLeida xuebao, 2013
In this paper, a new method of dual-threshold controlled adaptive clutter suppression is proposed for airborne weather radar which is operated in wind shear mode.

Airborne laser scan data: a valuable tool with which to infer weather radar partial beam blockage in urban environments [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2016
High-spatial-resolution weather radar observations are of primary relevance for hydrological applications in urban areas. However, when weather radars are located within metropolitan areas, partial beam blockages and clutter by buildings can seriously ...

Eruption Source Parameters in Volcanic Plume Modeling: Advances, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesReviews of Geophysics, Volume 64, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Accurately predicting the atmospheric dispersion of volcanic ash and gases is crucial for both scientific understanding and hazard mitigation. Estimating Eruption Source Parameters (ESP), such as mass eruption rate, plume height, duration, and particle size distribution and properties, remains challenging due to the complex nature of volcanic ...
