Causal analysis of extreme risk in a network of industry portfolios

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract We provide a detailed review of causal dependence within the framework of max‐linear structural models. Such models express each node variable as a max‐linear function of its parental node variables in a directed acyclic graph (DAG) and some exogenous innovation.

Flight-measured buffet characteristics of a supercritical wing and a conventional wing on a variable-sweep airplane [PDF]

open access: yes
Windup-turn maneuvers were performed to assess the buffet characteristics of the F-111A aircraft and the same aircraft with a supercritical wing, which is referred to as the F-111 transonic aircraft technology (TACT) aircraft.

Sudan at War With Itself: Civilian Devastation in the Civil War

open access: yesConflict Resolution Quarterly, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A civil war is raging in Sudan between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) along with militia groups. Beginning on April 15, 2023, and continuing at least to this writing (October 15, 2025), civilian noncombatants have been subjected to bombings, beatings, torture, shootings, rape, and murder on a large scale. Since

In-trail dynamics of multiple CDTI-equipped aircraft queues [PDF]

open access: yes
One of the potential problems of in-trail self-spacing with a Cockpit Display of Traffic Information (CDTI) is whether dynamic oscillations would occur in a queue of aircraft flying an approach, similar to the ""accordion'' effect seem with the queue of ...

Evolution of the water cluster in pore condensation

open access: yesDroplet, EarlyView.
In pore condensation, lower contact angles reduce molecular displacement (60%) and potential energy (10%), enhancing vapor capture tenfold. Pores restrict water molecule mobility, promoting condensation. On hydrophobic surfaces (124∘$^\circ$), pores stabilize embryos, ensuring uniform condensation within pores, boosting nucleation efficiency.

Self‐Maintained Thermal Charging Cells for the Efficient Harvesting of Waste Heat at Elevated Temperatures

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Thermal charging cells (TCS) face two main challenges that limit their practical applications: 1) Still lacking the systems suitable for operation under higher temperature environments, and 2) there are limitations in the self‐sustaining performance of continuous discharge under temperature differences, which holds critical significance for the real ...

Research on Thermal Runaway Multiphysics Coupling Simulation and Sensor Optimization Layout of Lithium Iron Phosphate Energy Storage Battery Packs

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study explores thermal runaway in lithium‐iron‐phosphate energy storage battery packs through multi‐physics coupling simulation. Thermal runaway evolves from battery cells (experiencing overcharge, bulging, safety valve opening, and gas venting) to battery clusters (a) and propagates within the battery pack (b). Simulation results indicate: stress
