Weaving Through Fire and Force: Fire Behavior and Fire Stability of Unidirectional, Bidirectional, and Woven Roving Glass‐Fiber Composites

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study explores flame retardant transfer from epoxy resins to composites, focusing on fire behavior and fire stability. Using DGEBA and dicyandiamide hardener in glass fiber composites, cone calorimeter, and bench‐scale fire resistance tests reveal that while higher FR levels (30–50 wt.%) reduce fire risk, it weakens the mechanical performance ...

Intelligent optimized design of novel high‐temperature titanium alloys

open access: yesMaterials Genome Engineering Advances, EarlyView.
This paper presents a novel strategy that integrates machine learning with multiobjective optimization to design high‐temperature titanium alloys that simultaneously meet multiple objectives and exhibit superior comprehensive mechanical properties. This approach provides valuable references for the subsequent composition design of high‐temperature ...

The tentacles of surveillance: Cephalopods and United States satellite intelligence

open access: yesJournal for the Anthropology of North America, EarlyView.
Abstract This article examines the symbol placed on a US spy satellite, National Reconnaissance Office Launch–39 (NROL‐39). In 2013, NROL‐39 was launched into space, the payload vehicle and mission patch emblazoned with a gigantic octopus, its tentacles surrounding the globe, and the words “Nothing Is Beyond Our Reach” written below the globe.
