The Role of the Manufacturer in Air Transportation Planning [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
The role of the aircraft manufacturer in the airline industry is considered. The process is illustrated by using a fictitious airline as an example--that is, a case study approach with Mid-Coast Airways serving as the example. Both in slide form and with

Bi‐Functional Diaminopropane Additive Enables Stable Li Anodes and Highly Efficient Cathodes for High‐Performance Li‐Air Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Diaminopropane (DAP) solvent is employed as a bi‐functional additive for Li‐air batteries. It spontaneously reacts to form a gel layer to prevent corrosion on the Li anode and maintain a liquid state at the cathode to improve the decomposition of Li2O2.

CFD predictions of near-field pressure signatures of a low-boom aircraft [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
A three dimensional Euler marching code has been utilized to predict near-field pressure signatures of an aircraft with low boom characteristics. Computations were extended to approximately six body lengths aft of the aircraft in order to obtain pressure

Highly Efficient Bifacial Narrow Bandgap Ag‐CuInSe2 Solar Cells on ITO

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Low bandgap(≈1eV) CISe is required for CIGS/Perovskite tandem configuration. Also, for a bifacial CISe tandem, CISe should be grown on TCO, and the corresponding efficiency from the rear side incoming light should also be enhanced. To enhance front and back illumination efficiency, Ga grading near the back contact is adopted.

Safety for non-microlight pilots [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Microlight aircraft are some of the safest, cheapest and most fun aircraft flying in the UK. The fatal accident rate, at around 1 per 30,000 flying hours is similar to that of General Aviation overall, and rather better than some parts of it in recent ...

Multistable Composite Laminate Grids as a Design Tool for Soft Reconfigurable Multirotors

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Flexible, lightweight, stable: the reconfigurable multirotor combines stable flight in multiple shapes with low‐energy reconfiguration. Utilizing optimized multistable composites, it achieves self‐locking in open and folded configurations, cutting width‐span by 48% and allowing for safe gap traversal.
