Wildlife Responses to Drone Noise: A Preliminary Approach for Quantifying Disturbance During Single‐ and Dual‐Drone Flights

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
Single drone (a) and dual‐drone (a + b) setups used to assess behavioral responses to drone noise exposure. ABSTRACT Drones are increasingly being deployed to study wildlife; however, growing evidence indicates that drone noise can alter animal behavior and confound ecological data.

Shock‐Assisted Flow Control System in Convergent‐Divergent Nozzle: A Numerical Study on Unconventional Protuberance With Different Geometry

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 5, May 2026.
A numerical investigation using 3D RANS simulations demonstrates significant effects of protuberance geometry—cubic, cylindrical, spherical, and conical—on shock‐induced thrust vectoring in supersonic nozzles. Cubic protuberances provide the maximum jet deflection (˜2°) with negligible thrust reduction.

Latex Serum‐Derived Supramolecular Networks Enable Toughening of Natural Rubber

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, Volume 47, Issue 10, 19 May 2026.
Latex‐serum addition enhances strain‐induced crystallization (SIC) toughening in natural rubber, increasing tearing strength and extending the SIC activation window. Supramolecular networks form via bifurcated hydrogen bonding between polyol components (e.g., quebrachitol) and end‐functionalized polyisoprene chains, serving as effective crystallization

Software to Support Remote Sensing of River Discharge Based on Critical Flow Theory

open access: yesRiver Research and Applications, Volume 42, Issue 4, Page 915-928, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Water resource management requires accurate observations of streamflow but standard field methods for measuring river discharge ( Q ) can be costly and hazardous for equipment and personnel. Remote sensing has become a viable alternative, but many image‐based techniques require field data for calibration, and depth and velocity can seldom be ...

Task co‐use and product improvement: An organization design perspective

open access: yesStrategic Management Journal, Volume 47, Issue 5, Page 1433-1466, May 2026.
Abstract Research Summary Co‐using tasks—using the same task to produce more than one product—promises economies of scope. However, task co‐use also ties products together, changing a firm's task network by introducing cross‐product interdependencies. In light of these interdependencies, we identify an unrecognized downside of task co‐use for product ...

Quantifying Structural Complexity, Effort, and Performance: An Early Experiment Using Network Design Tasks

open access: yesSystems Engineering, Volume 29, Issue 3, Page 387-405, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Structural Complexity is perceived as driving cost in system development, yet managing it effectively requires empirical understanding. This study investigates human decision‐making using a toy transportation‐style network design task, focusing on how Structural Complexity, Effort, and Performance interact. Seventy‐four participants (primarily

Improved Tropical Cyclone Wind Estimation Using Dual‐Polarization C‐Band SAR and Machine Learning

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Tropical cyclones (TCs) characterized by extreme wind speeds present severe hazards to human life and infrastructure. Spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) has emerged as a critical observational tool for TCs, owing to its all‐weather, high‐resolution imaging capabilities.
