Five‐year assessment of wolf translocation to Isle Royale National Park, 2018–2023

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, Volume 8, Issue 10, October 2026.
The National Park Service used a variety of methods to monitor the success of a restored wolf population on Isle Royale National Park. Abstract Gray wolf (Canis lupus) translocation is a common approach for restoring ecological function through top‐down regulation.

Can you really change your stripes? Stable wing ornamentation suggests limited condition‐dependent signalling in female common eiders

open access: yesIbis, Volume 168, Issue 4, Page 1422-1436, October 2026.
Variation in the expression of white ornaments, such as flank spots or wing stripes, has previously been related to indices of individual quality in birds. We measured the white wing stripes of colour‐banded female common eiders Somateria mollissima in three islands in Iceland from 2014 to 2023, to determine whether the expression of these ornaments is

Density and Abundance of Cetaceans in the Eastern Tropical Pacific Based on a Spatial/Temporal Analysis of 1986–2006 Line‐Transect Surveys

open access: yesMarine Mammal Science, Volume 42, Issue 4, October 2026.
ABSTRACT The abundance of cetaceans in the eastern tropical Pacific Ocean (ETP) is estimated using spatial/temporal density modeling and conventional line‐transect approaches. Line‐transect data are analyzed from 10 ship‐based visual sighting surveys from 1986 to 2006 that include 281,000 km of survey effort in a 19.4 million km2 study area.

Outcrop and subsurface characterisation of a mixed tidal and wave‐influenced coastline (Triassic Red Beds, SE Spain)

open access: yesSedimentology, Volume 73, Issue 6, Page 2381-2416, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Paralic depositional systems are complex and heterogeneous sedimentary environments, presenting challenges for predicting reservoir architecture and connectivity. Their stratigraphic and facies variability arises from the dynamic interplay between fluvial, tidal and wave processes, and their sensitivity to sea‐level fluctuations, sediment ...
