Chasing the perfida Albione: Anglo‐Italian productivity gap in the late 1930s

open access: yesThe Economic History Review, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper presents new estimates of Anglo‐Italian labour productivity levels in manufacturing in the late 1930s, derived using the standard single‐deflation approach. The findings confirm a substantial productivity gap between Italy and the United Kingdom at the aggregate level, alongside pronounced intersectoral heterogeneity.

PROCESS OF CHANGES OF MAINTENANCE-FREE ONBOARD SYSTEM OPERATIONAL STATUS BETWEEN SCHEDULED MAINTENANCES

open access: yesНаучный вестник МГТУ ГА, 2017
In this article the authors consider the problem of simulating the process of a maintenance-free between scheduled maintenance aircraft system operational status changes, which failure during the flight leads to the disaster.

Design and verification of energy balance actuation system for fishbone morphing wings

open access: yes工程科学学报
Morphing wings can improve the aerodynamic performance of aircraft and expand their flight envelope. Elastic deformation of the morphing structure can enable continuous and smooth shape changes of the morphing aircraft, which is important in morphing ...

Computational Investigation on the Combined Effect of Applied Strain and Pore Configuration on Strain Concentrators in Additively Manufactured Metals

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Metal additive manufacturing (AM) provides a pathway for creating highly optimized components that would be difficult to produce using traditional manufacturing methods. However, regardless of printing parameters or postprocessing, porosity remains a prevalent challenge in AM components because strain concentrates in the vicinity of the pore ...

A review of in-flight emergencies in the ASRS data base [PDF]

open access: yes
A series of 154 in-flight emergencies as reported to the Aviation Safety Reporting System are described. The various types of emergencies are examined and an attempt is made to determine the human errors and other factors associated with each incident ...

The Labor Market Effects of Occupational Licensing in the Public Sector

open access: yesIndustrial Relations: A Journal of Economy and Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In the United States, occupational licensing is about twice as prevalent in the public sector as in the private sector. However, the influence of occupational regulation for public sector workers and how it compares with that of private sector workers has not been analyzed in detail.

Standing on a common ground: a comparison of static stability approaches for pallet loading

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, EarlyView.
Abstract At the practical level, the static stability constraint is one of the most important constraints in practical pallet loading problems, such as air cargo palletizing. Approaches to modeling static stability, which range from base support and mechanical equilibrium calculations to physical simulation, differ in workflow, focus, and assumptions ...

Study of fault tolerant software technology for dynamic systems [PDF]

open access: yes
The major aim of this study is to investigate the feasibility of using systems-based failure detection isolation and compensation (FDIC) techniques in building fault-tolerant software and extending them, whenever possible, to the domain of software fault
