Uncertainty, Sensitivity, and Efficiency Analysis of a Hybrid Piezoelectric–Electromagnetic Energy Harvester

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Digitalization and emerging technologies are increasing the demand for wireless sensing and the Internet of Things (IoT), which provide opportunities for autonomous sources of electricity in the form of energy harvesting systems. This paper focuses on the challenges in hybrid piezoelectric‐electromagnetic kinetic energy harvesting systems that

Approximate Reachability for Feedback Linearizable Systems

open access: yesOptimal Control Applications and Methods, EarlyView.
The backwards reachable set for a dynamical system is the set of states for which there exists a constraint admissible trajectory that reaches a given terminal set. Conventional grid‐based approaches for computing these sets are intractable for many applications.

Digital surveillance of animals and nature recovery

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Digital surveillance technologies (DSTs) are widely applied in nature recovery for their potential to generate novel data on species and ecosystems through digital tracking, automation (e.g. from hazardous locations) and from newly recruited citizen scientists.

Developing a Model for Solving the Flight Perturbation Problem

open access: yesJournal of Airline and Airport Management, 2015
Purpose: In the aviation and airline industry, crew costs are the second largest direct operating cost next to the fuel costs. But unlike the fuel costs, a considerable portion of the crew costs can be saved through optimized utilization of the internal ...

Impact of Weak‐Constraint Four‐Dimensional Variational data assimilation on the prediction of a sudden stratospheric warming event in 2024

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
The Weak‐Constraint Four‐Dimensional Variational (WC‐4DVAR) system markedly improved the analysis and forecasting of the 2024 sudden stratospheric warming (SSW) event. It reduced biases and enhanced 7–9 day predictions of temperature across the SSW life cycle, with the most pronounced gains for winds also during the critical onset period.

Key node identification and risk propagation of aircraft departure control

open access: yes四川大学学报. 自然科学版, 2023
The detection of aircraft departure risk is an important part of civil aviation safety production, but the current research focuses mostly on the aircraft movement process and static hazard sources, ignoring the control business impact and risk dynamic ...

Sliding Mode Control in Aerospace Applications: A Survey

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sliding mode control (SMC) enjoys robustness to matched and unmatched (in the case of minimum phase input‐output dynamics) bounded perturbations, and finite time convergence. Second‐order and higher‐order sliding mode control systems (2‐SMC/HOSMC) retain all the advantages of sliding mode control, but in addition can be applied to systems of ...
