Airflow Characteristics through a Horizontal-Airflow Biofilter
2004, Ottawa, Canada August 1 - 4, 2004, 2004A horizontal-airflow biofilter was constructed to evaluate the airflow characteristics through a horizontal biofilter bed. Based on data collected over two summers of operation, it can be concluded that horizontal movement of air through a biofilter bed is feasible.

The formation of aeolian bedforms is fundamentally dependent on the nature of airflow. This chapter deals with the physical properties of air, the nature and types of air motion at global, regional and local scales, the physical forces which operate in the atmospheric boundary layer, and the interactions between wind and surface terrain.

Characterization of nasal airflow
Clinical Otolaryngology and Allied Sciences, 1997Nasal airflow and trans-nasal pressure difference was measured by active anterior rhinomanometry in 24 subjects. An analysis was undertaken to determine the 'goodness of fit' of two models used to characterize nasal airflow, one model by Broms and the other by O'Neill and Tolley.

Chronic airflow limitation (CAL) is a problem which causes much disability and the necessity for long-term care. This article discusses the clinical and psychosocial assessment of the patient with CAL as it relates to the goals of management: to optimize airflow; to minimize respiratory failure; to facilitate adaptation to chronic illness; and to ...

Airflow Resistance of Airflow-Regulating Devices Described by Independent Coefficients
Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology, 2001Rehabilitation after laryngectomy includes more and more the use of airflow-regulating devices such as shunt valves (SVs), tracheostoma valves (TSVs), and heat and moisture exchange (HME) filters. In determining the quality of those devices, airflow resistance is a very important factor.

Performance improvement of solar air collector based on airflow reorganization: A review
Applied Thermal Engineering, 2019Solar air collector is the major component of solar energy utilization system which absorbs the incoming solar radiation, converts it into thermal energy and transfers the energy to the fluid flowing through the collector.

The Biophysics of Nasal Airflow
Otolaryngologic Clinics of North America, 1989The biophysics of nasal airflow involve the measurement, analysis, and understanding of bulk airflow or momentum transport through the nasal cavity and of the exchange of mass and heat laterally between the air stream and the walls. In both of these areas, optimal progress depends on judicious, combined, and continuous use of physical models ...
