A Soft Robotic Device for Targeted Massage Therapy of Residual Limbs

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Residual limb edema after amputation can hinder recovery and delay prosthetic fitting. This study presents a soft‐robotic wearable device that delivers sequential compression through pneumatic McKibben actuators. By replicating the principles of manual lymphatic drainage, the device generates controlled mechanotherapeutic pressure patterns, providing a

Experimental Study on the Law of Gas Migration in the Gob Area of a Fully Mechanized Mining Face in a High-Gas Thick Coal Seam

open access: yesFire
To investigate the distribution law of gas migration in the gob area of a fully mechanized mining face, the similarity principle was employed, combined with Darcy’s law for porous media seepage, to derive the similarity criteria for simulating gas ...

Single‐Cell RNA Sequencing of Human Lung Tissues Reveals Metallothionein‐Positive T Cells as a Novel Potential Marker of Susceptibility to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using single‐cell RNA sequencing of lung samples and flow cytometry of peripheral blood, we identified a novel T cell subset with high metallothionein (MT) expression. These MT‐high T cells suppress CD8+ T cell cytotoxicity and are progressively depleted from healthy controls to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients, positioning them as

Performance Evaluation of Ultra-High-Frequency Airflow Excitation Under Stator-Rotor Interaction in Aircraft Environmental Control Cooling Turbines

open access: yesAerospace
Forced vibrations of turbine blades induced by airflow excitation can severely threaten the service life of radial flow turbines in aircraft environmental control systems (ECSs). However, existing studies on airflow excitation in ECS radial flow turbines

CFD investigation of airflow on a model radio control race car [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The modern day design of vehicles, especially in the racing industry involve a great deal of air flow study. This study shows that drag force adversely affects the forward motion of the car and that there is a difference in the pressure between the air ...

A Mussel‐Inspired Bioadhesive Patch to Selectively Kill Glioblastoma Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An innovative mussel‐inspired bioadhesive patch has been developed for post‐surgical glioblastoma treatment. The patch, which adheres strongly in biological environments, releases a localized treatment. This treatment, acting via reactive oxygen species, shows specific toxicity to glioblastoma cells.

Postoperative Stress Accelerates Atherosclerosis Through Inflammatory Remodeling of the HDL Proteome and Impaired Reverse Cholesterol Transport

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study shows that noncardiac surgical inflammation rapidly disrupts HDL function and cholesterol efflux in mice and human patients. Impaired reverse cholesterol transport after surgery drives rapid lipid accumulation, NETosis, and apoptosis within atherosclerotic plaques.

Oil‐Coated Nanoplastics Induce Rapid Membrane Disruption and Severe Intestinal Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Oil‐rich food contact dramatically amplifies MNP release from plastic takeout containers, producing oil‐coated nanoplastics with altered surface properties and rapid membrane‐disruptive effects. These particles cause severe intestinal barrier damage and immune dysfunction in mice, and risk modeling suggests that long‐term gastrointestinal burdens may ...

Ventilation of small livestock trailers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A large number of livestock is transported to market in small box trailers. The welfare of animals transported in this way is now assuming greater importance with the onset of tougher EU legislation.

A High‐Performance and Fully Recyclable Supramolecular Nanofibrous Membrane for Multifunctional Air Filtration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A green, thermoreversible self‐assembly strategy yields a multifunctional and recyclable supramolecular nanofibrous membrane. Graphene oxide (GO) nanosheet acts as a heterogeneous nucleation‐templating agent, simultaneously modulating the supramolecular crystal packing while tailoring the nanofibrous architecture for elite performance.
