Preanesthetic assessment data do not influence the time for tracheal intubation with Airtraq(tm) video laryngoscope in obese patients

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Anestesiologia, 2014
Purpose: this study investigated the influence of anatomical predictors on difficult laryngoscopy and orotracheal intubation in obese patients by comparing Macintosh and Airtraq(tm) laryngoscopes.

Combined use of an Airtraq® optical laryngoscope, Airtraq video camera, Airtraq wireless monitor, and a fibreoptic bronchoscope after failed tracheal intubation [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Anesthesia/Journal canadien d'anesthésie, 2011
To the Editor, Optical technology and fibreoptic systems have resulted in significant advances in management of the difficult airway. Optical laryngoscopes, such as the Airtraq (Prodol Meditec S.A., Vizcaya, Spain), provide an improved indirect view of the upper airway, achieving a higher intubation success rate than direct laryngoscopy.

Intubation using the Miller and Airtraq™ laryngoscopes: A paediatric manikin study

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Emergency Medicine, 2011
Introduction: To see if the Airtraq™ paediatric laryngoscope is easier and faster for paramedic students to use than the traditional Miller (straight blade) laryngoscope. Methods: A randomised cross-over study involving 72 paramedic students.

Comparative evaluation of Airtraq™ optical Laryngoscope and Miller's blade in paediatric patients undergoing elective surgery requiring tracheal intubation: A randomized, controlled trial

open access: yesIndian Journal of Anaesthesia, 2017
Background and Aims: The Airtraq™ optical laryngoscope is the only marketed videolaryngoscope for paediatric patients besides the fibre-optic bronchoscope. We hypothesized that intubation would be easier with Airtraq™ compared to Miller blade. Hence, we

Cuff Failure of Spiral‐Filled Polyvinyl Chloride Endotracheal Tube Immediately after Tracheal Intubation Using a Channeled Videolaryngoscope (Pentax Airway Scope)

open access: yesCase Reports in Anesthesiology, Volume 2020, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
We report on a case of mechanical damage to the spiral‐filled polyvinyl chloride endotracheal tube that occurred shortly after tracheal intubation using a channeled videolaryngoscope (Pentax airway scope). We also found this problem in two other cases among 350 neurosurgery patients over the past 5 years.

A comparative study of McGrath and Airtraq videolaryngoscopes for tracheal intubation

open access: yesJournal of Anaesthesiology Clinical Pharmacology, 2017
Background and Aims: Many cases of difficult tracheal intubation remain unrecognized until after induction of anesthesia. McGrath and Airtraq videolaryngoscopes are among the novel laryngoscopes that have an advantage over the conventional laryngoscopes ...

Airtraq™ versus Macintoch laryngoscope in intubation performance in the pediatric population

open access: yesSaudi Journal of Anaesthesia, 2012
Purpose: Airtraq™ is an optical laryngoscope that allows viewing of the vocal cords without a direct line of sight. The main objective of this prospective, randomized, controlled trial was to evaluate Airtraq intubation characteristics, mainly intubation

Airtraq as an alternative device for airway management for emergency cesarean section in a parturient with kyphoscoliosis and short stature – A case report

open access: yesJournal of Obstetric Anaesthesia and Critical Care, 2023
Kyphoscoliosis is a spine abnormality identified by anterior flexion (kyphosis) and lateral curvature (scoliosis) and its causes can be multifactorial.

Comparison of tracheal intubation using the Airtraq® and Mc Coy laryngoscope in the presence of rigid cervical collar simulating cervical immobilisation for traumatic cervical spine injury

open access: yesIndian Journal of Anaesthesia, 2012
Background: It is difficult to visualise the larynx using conventional laryngoscopy in the presence of cervical spine immobilisation. Airtraq® provides for easy and successful intubation in the neutral neck position.

A Comparative Study of Orotracheal Intubation Guided by Airtraq and McCoy Laryngoscope in Patients with Rigid Cervical Collar In-situ Simulating Cervical Immobilization for Traumatic Cervical Spine Injury

open access: yesIndian Journal of Neurosurgery, 2019
Background Immobilization of cervical spine is of utmost importance in patients with cervical injury, making intubation a difficult task due to the application of cervical collar.
