Progress Toward a Portable Artificial Lung: A Systematic Review
Eight portable respiratory assist devices were identified. The CE‐marked MobyBox and the FDA‐approved Breethe OXY‐1 system are in clinical use. Each device is substantially minimized to allow ambulation, but further work is required to address challenges related to anticoagulant management and safe mobilization. Created in BioRender. ABSTRACT Venous air embolism is a rare complication of pacemaker implantation. A 78 year old man developed sudden generalized stiffness, seizure‐like activity, and severe hypoxia (oxygen saturation 70%) during lead manipulation without hypotension or arrhythmia. Prompt recognition, high‐flow oxygen, and temporary procedural interruption led to complete

Sir, Angiographic catheter (AC) is commonly used in intervention cardiology, but its application outside cardiac catheterization laboratory (CCL) is seldom reported. AC has been used for nasogastric tube insertion.[1] We used AC as an airway exchange catheter through ProSeal laryngeal airway mask (PLMA) in an unanticipated difficult airway in ...
