Fractional Airy beams

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2017
Airy beams possess a number of properties that ensure their multifunction and high relevance in many applications. This fact stimulates scientists to search for new modifications and generalizations of classical Airy beams. Several generalizations of the Airy functions are known, on the basis of both the modification of the differential equation and ...

Elliptical Airy beam

Applied Optics, 2018
We found a new type of noncircular symmetrical Airy beam called an elliptical Airy beam (EAB). Using a simple single-pixel checkerboard hologram method, we achieved the EAB in an experiment. We observed its unique property of double focusing and the ability of the energy to flow towards the endpoints of the long axis during propagation.

Vortex Airy beam realized by superposition of two Airy beams

Frontiers in Optics + Laser Science 2021, 2021
We propose a new-type vortex Airy beam with both orbital angular momentum and non-diffraction property as a superposition of laterally-sheared two Airy beams. The propagation characteristics are hugely improved compared with the conventional ones.

Airy beam laser

Optics Letters, 2011
A method to design lasers that emit an arbitrary beam profile is studied. In these lasers, output-coupling is performed by a diffraction grating that imposes a phase and amplitude distribution onto the diffracted light. A solid-state laser emitting beams with a two-dimensional Airy intensity profile is demonstrated both theoretically and experimentally.

Observation of Accelerating Airy Beams

Frontiers in Optics 2007/Laser Science XXIII/Organic Materials and Devices for Displays and Energy Conversion, 2007
We report the first observation of Airy optical beams. This intriguing class of wave packets, initially predicted by Berry and Balazs in 1979, has been realized in both one- and two-dimensional configurations. As demonstrated in our experiments, these Airy beams can exhibit unusual features such as the ability to remain diffraction-free over long ...

Ballistic dynamics of Airy beams

Optics Letters, 2008
We demonstrate both theoretically and experimentally that optical Airy beams propagating in free space can perform ballistic dynamics akin to those of projectiles moving under the action of gravity. The parabolic trajectories of these beams as well as the motion of their center of gravity were observed in good agreement with theory.

Product of three Airy beams

Optics Letters, 2011
A two-dimensional field that is a product of three Airy beams is proposed and investigated. It is shown that the Fourier image of this field has a cubic phase and a radially symmetric intensity with a super-Gaussian decrease. Propagation of the product of three Airy beams in a Fresnel zone is investigated numerically.

Wave analysis of Airy beams and Airy Pulsed Beams

2013
The Airy beam (AiB) has attracted a lot of attention recently because of its intriguing features. We have previously provided a cogent physical explanation for these properties by showing that the AiB is, in fact, a caustic of rays that radiate from the tail of the Airy function aperture distribution. We have also introduced a class of ultra wide band (

Switchable Second‐Harmonic Generation of Airy Beam and Airy Vortex Beam

Advanced Optical Materials, 2020
AbstractAiry beam and Airy vortex beam with intriguing characteristics have been extensively studied in linear optics, while their dynamic nonlinear conversion has rarely been explored and remains challenging. Here, through the collaboration of binary mask engineered nonlinear photonic crystal and space‐variant liquid‐crystal geometric phase element ...

Multifocus autofocusing Airy beam

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2017
We propose a multifocus autofocusing Airy beam (MAAB) by modifying the frequency spectrum of a symmetric Airy beam (SAB) with a Gaussian band elimination filter. Unlike the original SAB, there are four off-axis foci at the autofocusing plane of the MAAB. The MAAB has a better abruptly autofocusing property than the original SAB.
