Manipulation of Airy surface plasmon beams

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2013
We demonstrate experimentally the manipulation of Airy surface plasmon beams in a linear potential. For this purpose, we fabricate dielectric-loaded plasmonic structures with a graded refractive index by negative-tone gray-scale electron beam lithography.

Spin Injection Of Exciton–Polaritons With Halide Perovskites At Room Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A monolithic Tamm‐plasmon microcavity embedding a two‐dimensional halide perovskite enables room‐temperature spin injection of exciton‐polaritons under quasi‐resonant optical excitation. Polarization‐resolved spectroscopy reveals partial preservation of the injected spin in the lower polariton branch, while bare excitons remain fully depolarized.

Spatially Modulated Morphotropic Phase Boundaries in a Compressively Strained Multiferroic Thin Film

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The coexisting rhombohedral‐like (R′, MA) and tetragonal‐like (T′, MC) monoclinic phases in compressively strained bismuth ferrite thin films exhibit exceptional piezoelectric and magnetic properties. While previous studies have largely focused on probing the morphotropic phase boundaries (MPBs) comprising ordered R′/T′ twins, their self ...

Generation of High-Power Bottle Beams and Autofocusing Beams

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
We propose and experimentally demonstrate an optical bottle beam (BB) and an abruptly autofocusing beam (AB), which were generated using a ring-Airy beam array.

Electrode and Microstructure Dependence of Oxygen Diffusion in Ferroelectric Hafnium Zirconium Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Significant nanoscale oxygen diffusion coefficient variations are measured in ferroelectric hafnium zirconium oxide films with grain boundaries and electrode interfaces exhibiting values 104 times larger than the grain cores. Overall coefficients are 10X larger for films prepared with metal nitride electrodes compared to refractory metals. New insights

Propagation of an Airy beam through the atmosphere

open access: yesOptics Express, 2013
In this paper, the effect of thermal blooming of an Airy beam propagating through the atmosphere is examined, and the effect of atmospheric turbulence is not considered. The changes of the intensity distribution, the centroid position and the mean-squared beam width of an Airy beam propagating through the atmosphere are studied by using the four ...

Chiral Phase Change Nanomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates reversible, non‐volatile phase transitions in chiral Ge2${\rm Ge}_2$Sb2${\rm Sb}_2$Te5${\rm Te}_5$ (GST) nanohelices for high‐speed optical modulation of chirality and dynamic control of the state of polarization (SOP). The chiral nanostructures are fabricated using a highly directional, wafer‐scale physical vapor deposition ...

Generation of High-Quality Tunable One-Dimensional Airy Beams Using the Aberrations of a Single Lens

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2012
We designed a highly tunable optical system for generating very good quality 1-D optical Airy beams. The system is composed of only a few passive elements-a microscope objective, a lens, and an aperture stop-so it is easy to align and has no power limits.
