Multifocus autofocusing Airy beam

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2017
We propose a multifocus autofocusing Airy beam (MAAB) by modifying the frequency spectrum of a symmetric Airy beam (SAB) with a Gaussian band elimination filter. Unlike the original SAB, there are four off-axis foci at the autofocusing plane of the MAAB. The MAAB has a better abruptly autofocusing property than the original SAB.

Polarization properties of the Airy beam

Optics Letters, 2015
Polarization of paraxial Airy beam solutions of Maxwell's equations and its evolution with propagation have been studied. We experimentally demonstrate the existence of the cross-polarization component of the Airy beam, typical of nonplanar phase fronts, and study its evolution with propagation.

Virtual source for an Airy beam

Optics Letters, 2012
We identify a virtual source for generating an Airy wave. A spectral integral expression is derived to describe the Airy wave, which, in the paraxial limit, yields the freely accelerating, nondiffracting, and finite energy Airy beam. From the spectral representation of the Airy wave, the first two orders of nonparaxial corrections to the paraxial Airy ...

Extended Airy beams

2015 USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting (Joint with AP-S Symposium), 2015
A finite-energy bending Airy beam solution to the paraxial equation in free space was first formulated analytically by Siviloglou and Christodoulides and subsequently demonstrated experimentally by Siviloglou, Broky, Dogariu and Christodoulides. This work was motivated by the infinite-energy (nonspreading) accelerating Airy solution to the Schrudinger ...

Beam wander of an Airy beam with a spiral phase

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2014
Beam wander of an Airy beam with a spiral phase in turbulence is investigated. Using the Wigner distribution function, analytical expressions for the second-order moments and second central moments of an Airy beam with a spiral phase in turbulence are derived.

Evolution of an Airy beam in turbulence

Optics Letters, 2011
The evolution of Airy beam intensity distribution in turbulence is examined. Results show that the centroid position and skewness of an Airy beam are independent on turbulence. When the exponential truncation factor is small, an Airy beam has a long tail on the left side.

Polarization of the Airy beam

Frontiers in Optics 2015, 2015
Evolution of the polarization profile of finite aperture Maxwell-Airy beams with propagation was studied experimentally. Existence of the cross polarization of the Airy beam is demonstrated.

Hyperbolic Airy beams

2013 International Conference on Advanced Optoelectronics and Lasers (CAOL 2013), 2013
We discuss finite-energy and infinite-energy Airy beams of the second kind. Similarly to the well-known paraxial Airy beams, these are accelerating beams that can be analytically described in the Fresnel diffraction zone but propagate along a hyperbolic rather than parabolic path over a certain length, with their “gravity center” shifting linearly with

Supercontinuum Airy beams

SPIE Proceedings, 2009
Airy beams are of great interest as a result of their unusual characteristics, they are non-diffracting and also propagate along a parabolic path due to the presence of a transversal acceleration component. In this paper the generation of a white light Airy beam is presented, an investigation is also carried out to determine how the properties of an

Beam propagation factor of an Airy beam

Journal of Optics, 2011
We investigate the beam quality features of an Airy beam during propagation in free space. The beam propagation factor of an Airy beam is derived based on the moments method. The results show that the beam propagation factor of an Airy beam can achieve the minimum M2 = 1.17 when the modulation parameter a = 0.756 by compromising the effects of lateral ...
