Exact Elasticity Solution for the Density Functionally Gradient Beam by Using Airy Stress Function

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011
In this paper the problem of a density-functionally gradient beam subjected to uniform load is studied. Airy stress function methodology is used to obtain a set of analytical solutions for simply supported and clamped beams subjected to uniform load. A stress function in the form of polynomial is proposed and determined.

Airy functions in the air: an easy way with stress problems (teaching)

Physics Education, 1978
The easiest way to solve stress problems involving beams, rods, strings and the like is to construct the Airy stress function in the air. Some simple examples are given, and the properties and derivation of Airy's function (and a vector force function, which is also useful) are expounded.

Determination of Constitutive Properties in Inverse Problem Using Airy Stress Function

2017
A new inverse problem formulation is developed using the Airy stress function. Inverse methods are used to determine the constitutive properties of a graphite/epoxy laminated composite loaded vertically by processing measured values of v-displacement component with an Airy stress function in complex variables.

Airy Stress Functions for Transverse Sinusoidally Loaded Beam in Nonlocal Elasticity

Journal of Computational and Theoretical Nanoscience, 2011
On the face of difficulty of employing the nonlocal constitutive relations in the form of integral equation, researchers started to seek alternative forms of the nonlocal constitutive relations. The Greens function formalism has become the most popular one for this purpose.
