Stress State in an Eccentric Elastic Ring Loaded Symmetrically by Concentrated Forces

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
The stress state from an eccentric ring made of an elastic material symmetrically loaded on the outer boundary by concentrated forces is deduced. The analytical results are obtained using the Airy stress function expressed in bipolar coordinates.

Airy Stress Function-Based Elastoplastic Analysis of Plates with Holes Using the Nonconforming Morley Finite Element Method

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This paper presents a stress-function-based finite element formulation for two-dimensional elastoplastic plane-stress problems with holes. The Airy stress function is used as the primary global unknown, and the resulting non-homogeneous biharmonic ...

A hybrid technique for residual stress analysis through stress function fitting

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Solids and Structures
This work presents a hybrid experimental theoretical technique for residual stresses analysis of mechanical components. It was used the blind hole technique along with the Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry (ESPI) method and Airy stress functions ...

Differential geometric approach to the stress aspect of a fault: Airy stress function surface and curvatures [PDF]

open access: yesActa Geophysica, 2011
We considered the two-dimensional stress aspect of a fault from the viewpoint of differential geometry. For this analysis, we concentrated on the curvatures of the Airy stress function surface. We found the following: (i) Because the principal stresses are the principal curvatures of the stress function surface, the first and the second invariant ...

An exact solution for improved metal-composite joints reinforced by FG inter-layers

open access: yesScience and Engineering of Composite Materials, 2017
A two-dimensional analytic solution based on linear elasticity theory is used to investigate the effect of using a functionally graded material (FGM) as an inter-layer in reducing the stress concentration in non-axisymmetric loaded metal-composite joints.

Experimental and simulation study on fracture conductivity of acid-fracturing in Dengying Formation of Sichuan Basin [PDF]

open access: yesYouqicang pingjia yu kaifa
Acid fracturing is a critical stimulation technology for enhancing production in ultra-deep marine carbonate reservoirs. A significant challenge in this process is maintaining the conductivity of acid-etched fractures under ultra-high temperature and ...

A STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF IMPACT LOADING ON DSIFs AND CRACK PROPAGATION IN PLATE

open access: yesAl-Qadisiyah Journal for Engineering Science, 2009
In this work, a study of the effect of impact loading on dynamic crack propagation in thin and isotropic thick plates for two types of material, stainless steel, and aluminum, are investigated analytically and numerically to give a complete study of 3D ...

A Combinatorial Approach to Obtain the Yield Probability Distribution along a Linearly-Loaded Cantilever Beam

open access: yesمجلة بغداد للعلوم, 2016
The substantial key to initiate an explicit statistical formula for a physically specified continua is to consider a derivative expression, in order to identify the definitive configuration of the continua itself. Moreover, this statistical formula is to

Rozwiązanie Pewnego Typu Tarczy Nieograniczonej

open access: yesEngineering Transactions, 1957
A thin elastic cantilever slice is considered. The edges are straight lines and a circle. Using bipolar coordinates, the Airy function is found by separating variables and using the boundary conditions for a given function and its normal derivative at ...

Nonlinear thermo-mechanical bending analysis of variable-thickness parallelogram plates in curved hull via a homotopy-based wavelet method

open access: yesApplied Ocean Research
Due to the variable-thickness parallelogram plates in ocean structure are characterized by the presence of strong moment singularity at supported obtuse corners, the wide application has turned the nonlinear mechanical analysis into one of the most ...
