Compatibility of AISI 316 L stainless steel with the Li17Pbg, eutectic
Journal of Nuclear Materials, 1982Abstract The compatibility of AISI 316 L stainless steel with the Li17Pb83, eutectic has been studied in the temperature range 623–873 K for times up to 6000 h. In the corrosion layers formed there is a strong Ni depletion and Pb and Li penetration in the matrix.

Laser Direct Energy Deposition Welding of AISI 316 Stainless Steel Sheets
Volume 2: Processes; Materials, 2019Abstract The present paper assesses the applicability of laser powder direct energy deposition for welding of thin stainless steel sheets. Considering the rapid development of laser cladding and relatively wide range of equipment available in modern industrial settings, this technology can also be applied to laser welding, where the ...

Deformation induced martensite in AISI 316 stainless steel
2010El proceso de conformación da a lugar a una considerable diferenciación del campo de tensiones dentro de una barra de extrusión y, finalmente, causa una distribución no uniforme de la tensión total, la microestructura y propiedades del material sobre el corte transversal.

The effect of Pseudomonas NCIMB 2021 biofilm on AISI 316 stainless steel
Biofouling, 2000A bioreactor system operating in a continuous mode was designed to generate biofilms on polished and as-received surfaces of AISI 316 stainless steel coupons exposed for 36 d to a pure culture of marine Pseudomonas NCIMB 2021. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy were employed to determine the degree of surface colonisation ...

Stress corrosion cracking of weldments of AISI Type 316 stainless steel
Materials and Corrosion, 1987AbstractThe weldments of AISI Type 316 stainless steel prepared by the tungsten inert gas (TIG) and manual metal arc (MMA) welding processes, were tested in a boiling solution of 5 M NaCl + 0.15 M Na2SO4(pH = 1.3) at an initial stress level of 200 MPa under the open circuit potential (OCP) and the impressed potential (IP) conditions using the constant ...

A review of precipitation behaviour in AISI type 316 stainless steel
Materials Science and Engineering, 1983Abstract The precipitation behaviour of AISI type 316 stainless steel is reviewed. The crystal structure, composition, occurrence and characteristics of the major precipitates found in this steel (M23C6, σ, λ and η) are described. This is followed by a description of the effects of time, temperature, chemical composition and thermomechanical ...

Adsorption of proteins on an AISI 316 stainless-steel surface in natural seawater
Surface and Interface Analysis, 2000The surface of a metal immersed in solutions containing organic and inorganic molecules is modified by an adsorbed layer that influences the subsequent biofilm formation. Little is known about the first steps of surface modifications in the complex medium of seawater. The 'BASIS' group has characterized the conditioning film formed on a stainless-steel

WEAR BEHAVIOR OF AISI 316 STAINLESS STEEL MACHINED BY FIBER LASER
2009This paper investigates the effects of surface texture on the wear performance of AISI 316 stainless steel. The material surface was engraved as a function of scan speed and frequency using laser engraving technique. The output of wear tests is coefficient of friction and wear rate were carried out dry test condition under 5 N loads, at 0,18m/s sliding
