Liquid Phase Sintering of AISI 316L Stainless Steel

Powder Metallurgy, 1989
The sintering behaviour of AISI 316L powders alloyed with 20%Cu has been studied as a function of various sintering parameters. Copper additions are known to improve compressibility, sinterability, and dimensional control of the final component, as well as improving the corrosion resistance of the sintered material.

Investigation of Liquid Metal Embrittlement of AISI 316L Steels

Volume 5: Student Paper Competition, 2016
To support the feasibility and the deployment of LFRs one of the main issues to be solved is the reliability of structural materials to be exposed to liquid metal coolant. Particularly the Liquid Metal Embrittlement (LME) of steels is of interest for nuclear reactors and spallation sources projects because structural materials for these ...

Nano- and Micromechanical Parameters of AISI 316L Steel

Surface Engineering and Applied Electrochemistry, 2020
The nano- and micro-indentation mechanical parameters of the AISI 316L stainless steel, such as nanohardness (НNI), microhardness (HMI), the Young modulus (E), the indices of plasticity (H/E) and resistance (H3/E2), and relaxation parameters hs, hres, he-p and their dependences on the value of P load applied to an indenter were studied.

Dry sliding wear test on borided AISI 316L stainless steel under ball-on-flat configuration: A statistical analysis

, 2021
In this paper, significant results about the evaluation of the influence of wear test factors such as load, distance, and sliding speed are analyzed to determine the statistical behavior of the specific wear rate, depth, and friction coefficient as ...

Recrystallization kinetics, mechanisms, and topology in alloys processed by laser powder-bed fusion: AISI 316L stainless steel as example

Materialia, 2021
Alloys manufactured by laser powder-bed fusion have intrinsic and hierarchical microstructural features inherited from the fast solidification (up to 104 K/s) and subsequent thermal cycles.

Optimization of the surface mechanical strength of AISI 316L physically vapour deposited nitrogen-doped coatings on AISI 316L substrates

Surface and Coatings Technology, 1993
Abstract High load Vickers indentation, scratch testing under constant and progressive loading as well as pin-on-disc wear testing were used to assess the overall strength of coated specimens. In scratch testing, the major damage mechanism was found to be brittle, by thickness cracking of the coating with growth defects the dominant crack intiators ...

Microstructural Fractal Dimension of AISI 316L Steel

MRS Proceedings, 1994
AbstractFractal dimension of the microstructure of AISI 316L steel (17 Cr, 12.7 Ni, 2.1 Mo, 1. 5 Mn, 0.01 C) with different degrees of strain were obtained from Richardson plots of grain boundary perimeter against magnification. Grain boundaries were revealed using conventional metallographic techniques and measurements were taken with the aid of an ...

Mechanical Properties And Microstructure Evolution in Arc Stud Welding Joints of AISI 1020 with AISI 316L and AISI 304

Metallography, Microstructure, and Analysis, 2021
The mechanical properties and microstructures of dissimilar arc stud weldments of AISI 316L/AISI 1020 and AISI 304/AISI 1020 were investigated. Welding currents of 400, 600 and 800A and welding times of 0.2, 0.25, 0.3, 0.35, 0.4 and 0.45 second were employed.

Strength of AISI 316L in torsion at high temperature

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2008
Hot torsion flow behaviour of 30 mu m grained AISI 316L stainless steel was investigated in the range of temperatures 850-1100 degrees C with equivalent strain rates 0.0001-0.006s(-1). For temperatures higher than 900 degrees C the material presented an unusual linear relationship at low strains between equivalent stress, sigma(Eq), and equivalent ...
