Wear of Tailored Forming Steels
The wear behavior of additively welded steel cladding layers for tribologically loaded surfaces is investigated on a ball‐on‐disk tribometer. The results show that the steel–steel multimaterial specimens exhibit comparable wear behavior to conventional monolithic parts, demonstrating the potential for the use of additive manufacturing processes in ...

Effect of the Cryogenically Treated Copper Nozzle Used in Plasma Arc Machining of S235 Steel
The investigation was carried out by making use of the design of experiments method in order to achieve its objective, which was to study wear analysis in relation to a cryogenically treated nozzle that was utilized in plasma arc machining. Kerf width and surface roughness are two output characteristics that are key variables in deciding the quality of

Hard turning has replaced conventional grinding in production processes in recent years as an emerging technique. Nowadays, coated carbide tools are replacing expensive CBN inserts in turning. Wear is a significant concern when turning with coated carbide; it immediately affects the acceptability of the machined surface, which causes machine downtime ...

Characterization of AISI 4140 borided steels
The present study characterizes the surface of AISI 4140 steels exposed to the paste-boriding process. The formation of Fe2B hard coatings was obtained in the temperature range 1123–1273 K with different exposure times, using a 4 mm thick layer of boron carbide paste over the material surface.

Heat‐treated steel is widely used in industrial applications due to its high strength and other desirable mechanical qualities. Grinding, which requires a lot of power and is expensive, is typically used to harden machining. In recent times, hard machining has emerged as a viable alternative to grind in select applications.

Mechanical Properties of Boronized AISI 316, AISI 1040, AISI 1045 and AISI 4140 Steels
In this study, some mechanical properties of borided and unborided four steels were investigated. Boronizing of steels was performed by powder pack method at 1210 K for 4 h. The hardness of borides, boride layer thickness and room temperature tensile properties were measured and it was observed that hardness and tensile properties strongly depend on ...
