Morphological Analysis of Laser Surface Texturing Effect on AISI 430 Stainless Steel. [PDF]
Laser surface texturing (LST) is a method to obtain micro-structures on the material’s surface for improving tribological performances, wetting tuning, surface treatment, and increasing adhesion. The material selected for LST is AISI 430 ferritic stainless steel, distinguished by the low cost in manufacturing, corrosion resistance, and high strength at

Formability Prediction of Laser-Welded Stainless Steel AISI 304 and AISI 430 [PDF]
The effect of laser welding on the mechanical properties and the prediction of formability for austenitic stainless steel AISI 304 and ferritic steel AISI 430 when welded by a YLS-5000 fiber laser, were studied in the paper. The microstructure of the welded joint was analyzed using light microscopy.

Evaluation of forming limit diagrams of stainless Steel AISI 304 and AISI 430
Current quality standards require standardized tests in order to employ metal sheets in deep drawing processes. These tests are conducted aiming to assess their degree of formability in order to ensure that these materials can be formed without any defects such as wrinkling, earing, or even localized rupture.

High temperature oxidation behavior of AISI 304 and AISI 430 stainless steels [PDF]
The oxidation behavior of AISI 304 and AISI 430 stainless steels was investigated from 1100 °C up to 1200 °C. Mössbauer spectroscopy and x ray diffraction were used to access the phase composition of the formed scales. The main crystalline phases found in the oxidized materials at temperatures above 1100 °C were hematite and magnetite for ...

LASER INDUCED STRUCTURAL TRANSFORMATION IN AISI 430 STEEL [PDF]
AISI 430 steel plates have been irradiated with 2kW cw CO2 laser. Optical and transmission electron microscopy studies, revealed that the carbides existent before irradiation are dissolved in the irradiated zone where the steel was melted. After solidification, an uniform distribution of the ε - carbide precipitates, 50 - 100 nm in size, appeared.

Study of Localized Corrosion of AISI 430 and AISI 304 Batches Having Different Roughness [PDF]
In this work, the localized corrosion resistance of different batches of AISI 430 and AISI 304 stainless steels, having Scotch-Brite surface finishing, was investigated as a function of their roughness (in terms of Rz) and chemical composition. The study was performed by recording anodic cyclic potentiodynamic polarization curves at room temperature in

Corrosion Study of AISI 304, AISI 321 and AISI 430 Stainless Steels in a Tar Sand Digester
This work has investigated the corrosion properties of three types of stainless steels in a tar sand digester environment with the aim of establishing their relative resistances in the environment. The corrosion experiments for the stainless steels were conducted by the non-electrochemical immersion technique with corrosion rates expressed in mils per ...

Influence of Immersion Corrosion on Mechanical Properties of AISI 430/AISI 316L Dissimilar Welded Joints [PDF]
Dissimilar welded joints of AISI 430 and AISI 316L stainless steel were produced by the GMAW process using two different shielding gas mixtures composed of 97Ar-3N2 and 80Ar-19He-1O2. The microstructure of the heat-affected zone was characterized by optical and scanning electron microscopy, and Vickers microhardness measurements were carried out along ...

TIG-weldability of AISI 430 and DUROSTAT 500 grade
Abstract In this study, 10 mm thick DUROSTAT 500 and AISI 430 grades were joined by double sided keyhole tungsten inert gas (K-TIG) welding method without using filler material. The characterization of the microstructure of the weld zone was investigated by optical analysis methods and the mechanical properties of the welded parts were ...
