Design and Development of a Magnetic Lead Screw With a Quasi‐Halbach Array

open access: yesIET Science, Measurement &Technology, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper reports on a study of a novel MLS with a quasi‐Halbach array and a rotor made of a SMC. The proposed topology has an array formed from a helix of discretized pieces of PMs axially and radially magnetized in its slider. Using FEA and static magnetic simulations, prototypes were assessed.

A Computational Fluid Dynamics Investigation of Midshaft Reducing Gas Composition Impacts on Blast Furnace Performance

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
The feasibility of shaft‐level reducing gas injection has been widely investigated as a method to increase operational efficiency, enable higher oxygen‐enrichment operation, and minimize process CO2 emissions. Computational fluid dynamics modeling is employed in this study to investigate the impacts of shaft injection gas composition on replacement ...

Technique for predicting the thermal expansion coefficients of cryogenic metallic alloys [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
Series of measurements on the thermal expansion coefficients of several aerospace alloys and standard materials establish relationships between related alloys that would aid in predicting their thermal expansion reliability.

Stability and the United States ‐ What Are We Doing? A Historical Summary of Financial Support for Steel Structural Stability Research

open access: yesce/papers, Volume 8, Issue 6, Page 25-30, December 2025.
Abstract Since the early 1900s, supporters of steel structural stability research in the United States have consisted of a broad cross‐section of public, private, and nonprofit entities, with federal and state governments financing most of the activity. However, the model for future government support of science and engineering research in the U.S.

Studying the Impact of Impurities on the Performance of Cadmium‐Free all Sputtered CIGS Solar Cells Using Titanium–Tungsten Barrier

open access: yesSolar RRL, Volume 9, Issue 23, December 2025.
The study demonstrates that a titanium/tungsten barrier layer significantly improves Cu(In, Ga)Se2 (CIGS) solar cell performance by effectively screening the impurities from steel substrate to CIGS layer. Increasing the barrier layer thickness from 0 to 208 nm boosts efficiency from ≈4% to 16% due to improvement in open circuit voltage and fill factor,
