Micro-Milling of Hardened AISI D2 Tool Steel

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
The paper presents an experimental investigation into the slotting of hardened AISI D2 (~62HRC) tool steel using 0.5mm diameter coated (TiAlN) tungsten carbide (WC) end mills. SEM analysis of tool morphology and coating integrity was undertaken on all tools prior to testing.

Prediction of Boride Thickness on Tool Steels AISI D2 and AISI H13 Using Boriding Kinetics

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
Cold and hot work tool steels AISI D2 and AISI H13, respectively, were borided using a packed boriding process. Boriding temperature range of 1123 1223 K was performed with different boriding time up to 6 hr, afterwards, near-surface properties of the borided tool steels AISI D2 and H13 were characterized.

Performance characteristics of hardened AISI D2 steel turning: A review

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2020
Abstract Hard turning is the process of machining hardened steels that have above 45HRC. In metal-manufacturing, hard turning potentially substitutes the grinding process as it possesses lots of benefits like higher metal volume removal rate, less costly, easy to handle, flexible tooling and exhibiting closer surface quality to grinding finish.
