A new extension of linear failure rate distribution with estimation, simulation, and applications

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2023
In this article, we provide a new three-parameter model derived from the newly reduced Cauchy power-G family and linked to the linear failure rate model. The truncated Cauchy power linear failure rate (TCPLFR) is the name given to this distribution.

A Comparative Study of Bayesian Model Selection Criteria for Capture-Recapture Models for Closed Populations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Capture-Recapture models estimate unknown population sizes. Eight standard closed population models exist, allowing for time, behavioral, and heterogeneity effects.

Statistical Analysis of Displacement and Length Relation for Normal Faults in the Barents Sea

open access: yesGeosciences, 2018
This paper is devoted to the statistical analysis of dependence between fault length (L) and displacement (D). The main purpose of this work is to study the scaling relations between fault length and displacement using a database that includes datasets ...

Akaike's Information Criterion for Stoichiometry Inference of Supramolecular Complexes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, 2023
Abstract“How do we decide the stoichiometry of host–guest complexes?” This question has long been answered by the Job plot since its first report in 1928. However, as the Job plot was claimed to be misleading in 2016, the question became an open question again and called for renewed investigations.

On image segmentation using information theoretic criteria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Image segmentation is a long-studied and important problem in image processing. Different solutions have been proposed, many of which follow the information theoretic paradigm.

Comparison among Akaike Information Criterion, Bayesian Information Criterion and Vuong's test in Model Selection: A Case Study of Violated Speed Regulation in Taiwan

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Engineering and Computation, 2019
When doing research on scientific issues, it is very significant if our research issues are closely connected to real applications. In reality, when analyzing data in practice, there are frequently several models that can appropriate to the survey data ...

Asymptotic post-selection inference for Akaike’s information criterion [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2018
Ignoring the model selection step in inference after selection is harmful. This paper studies the asymptotic distribution of estimators after model selection using the Akaike information criterion. First, we consider the classical setting in which a true model exists and is included in the candidate set of models.

Optimal Fuzzy Model Construction with Statistical Information using Genetic Algorithm

open access: yes, 2012
Fuzzy rule based models have a capability to approximate any continuous function to any degree of accuracy on a compact domain. The majority of FLC design process relies on heuristic knowledge of experience operators.
