THE CHARACTERISTICS OF Al-Si COATING ON STEEL 22MnB5 DEPENDING ON THE HEAT TREATMENT

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2019
The coating on the 22MnB5 steel is intended to protect it against oxidation during the forming process. This steel is hot-pressed. A preheating before the pressing and subsequent hardening in the tool affects the properties of the AlSi coating.

Enhanced Mechanical and Tribological Capabilities of a Silicon Aluminum Alloy with an Electroplated Ni–Co–P/Si3N4 Composite Coating

open access: yesMetals, 2022
Ni–Co–P/Si3N4 composite coatings were fabricated over an aluminum–silicon (Al–Si) substrate using a pulse-current electroplating process, in which the rapid deposition of an intermediate nickel–cobalt layer was used to improve coating adhesion.

Si-Al-N-O Multi-Layer Coatings with Increased Corrosion Resistance Deposited on Stainless Steel by Magnetron Sputtering

open access: yesMetals, 2022
This work studies single-layer (Al-Si-N) and multi-layer (Al-Si-N-O/Al-Si-O) coatings deposited by magnetron sputtering on stainless steel specimens (AISI 321), which can be used under aggressive conditions.

Microstructure and mechanical properties of laser welded hot-press-formed steel with varying thicknesses of Al–Si coatings cleaned by nanosecond pulsed laser

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
The Al–Si coatings are commonly used for hot-press-forming (HPF) steel to prevent oxidation in the automobile industry. However, due to the presence of Al–Si coating, undesirable intermetallic compounds are easily formed in the welds of HPF steel.
