A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Influence of silicon on growth mechanism of micro-arc oxidation coating on cast Al–Si alloy [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2018
Micro-arc oxidation (MAO) is a plasma-assisted electrochemistry method to prepare protective ceramic coatings on aluminium alloys. Alloy elements of the Al-alloy substrate, such as Si, Cu, Mg and Li, have effects on the microstructure and composition of ...

Characterization of Carbon-Contaminated B4C-Coated Optics after Chemically Selective Cleaning with Low-Pressure RF Plasma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Boron carbide (B4C) is one of the few materials that is expected to be mostly resilient with respect to the extremely high brilliance of the photon beam generated by free electron lasers (FELs) and is thus of considerable interest for optical ...

Non-equilibrium Microstructure and Thermal Stability of Plasma-sprayed Al–Si Coatings

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research, 2005
A splat-quenched, thick Al–Si deposit was manufactured by low-pressure plasma spraying (LPPS) and investigated in terms of microstructural inhomogeneity, Si solid solubility in α–Al, formation of metastable phases, and thermal stability. The LPPS Al–Si deposit had an inhomogeneous, layered microstructure consisting of splat-quenched lamellae and the ...

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Formation and Microstructural Characterization of Co-DepositedSilicon Aluminide Coating Produced by Pack Cementation Process at High Temperature

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Materials in Engineering, 2017
In this study, creation of a silicon aluminide coating on IN738LC nickel-based superalloy has been investigated, using co-deposition process. Thermochemical calculations indicated the possibility of obtaining a silicon aluminide with NH4Cl activated pack

Increased Cycling Efficiency and Rate Capability of Copper-coated Silicon Anodes in Lithium-ion Batteries

open access: yes, 2011
Cycling efficiency and rate capability of porous copper-coated, amorphous silicon thin-film negative electrodes are compared to equivalent silicon thin-film electrodes in lithium-ion batteries. The presence of a copper layer coated on the active material

Interfacial adhesion of laser clad functionally graded materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Specially designed samples of laser clad AlSi40 functionally graded materials (FGM) are made for evaluating the interfacial adhesion. To obtain the interfacial bond strength notches are made right at the interface of the FGMs.
