Reducing Open‐Circuit Voltage Losses in Wide‐Bandgap FAPbBr3 Perovskite Solar Cells for Continuous Unassisted Light‐Driven Water Splitting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The combination of formamidinium thiocyanate and 1,3‐propane diammonium iodide for bulk and top‐surface passivation, and a ternary fullerene blend to improve energy band alignment, suppresses energy losses in wide‐bandgap FAPbBr3 perovskite solar cells.

Novel Combined Feeding Approach to Produce Quality Al6061 Composites for Heat Sinks

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2019
This elementary work aims to address agglomeration and non-uniform dispersion of reinforcement particles in stir casting using Al6061 alloy (AA 6061) as a matrix and Aluminium oxide (Al2O3) as reinforcement particles.

Assessment of the properties of sprayed coatings for the thermal barrier applied to the piston of internal-combustion engine

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2014
The properties of three thermal sprayed coatings (Coating①: Top coat; Al2O3, Bond coat; Ni-Cr, Coating②: Top coat; YSZ, Bond coat; CoNiCrAlY, Coating③: SUS316) were compared to select the effective sprayed coating for giving the thermal barrier to the Al

Self‐Trapped Hole Migration and Defect‐Mediated Thermal Quenching of Luminescence in α‐ and β‐Ga2O3

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Temperature‐dependent photoluminescence and first‐principles calculations reveal self‐trapped hole migration as the microscopic origin of thermal quenching in α‐ and β‐Ga2O3. The low migration barrier in α‐Ga2O3 enables defect trapping and enhances blue luminescence, while the higher barrier in β‐Ga2O3 preserves ultraviolet emission at elevated ...

Organized growth of carbon nanotubes on Fe-doped alumina ceramic substrates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Polycrystalline Fe-doped alumina (Al2O3) ceramics have been produced and used as a substrate for organized carbon nanotubes (CNTs) growth by catalytic chemical vapor deposition (CCVD). In these substrates, Fe3+ cations, which are the catalyst source, are

Multiple Twinning in Nacre and Aragonite

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electron backscatter diffraction map of a cluster of geologic aragonite, exhibiting single, double, and triple twins. The whole cluster is approximately 2 cm wide. Colors indicate crystal orientations, so that pixels where the a‐, b‐, and c‐axis is perpendicular to the image plane are green, red, and blue, respectively.
