Osteological correlates of the respiratory and vascular systems in the neural canals of Mesozoic ornithurines Ichthyornis and Janavis

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract In birds, the neural canal houses a variety of anatomical structures including the spinal cord, meninges, spinal vasculature, and respiratory diverticula. Among these, paramedullary diverticula and the extradural dorsal spinal vein may leave behind osteological correlates in the form of pneumatic foramina and fossae, and a bilobed geometry of ...

Comparative Meta‐Analysis of Antimicrobial Peptides in Aquatic and Terrestrial Livestock Species

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
A global meta‐analysis of 58 studies (926 effect sizes and 29 species across five taxa) revealed that dietary antimicrobial peptides generally improve growth performance, blood metabolites, and immune responses. Linezolid‐mediated Prevention of Fibroblast Activation and Tissue Fibrosis via Mitochondrial Translation Inhibition

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Beyond its role as a ribosome‐targeting antibiotic, linezolid was recently shown to modulate immune responses by inhibiting mitochondrial translation.
