Development of ALACRANE: A Mobile Robotic Assistance for Exploration and Rescue Missions
2007 IEEE International Workshop on Safety, Security and Rescue Robotics, 2007The paper presents ALACRANE, a new mobile robot assistant for exploration and rescue missions with dexterous load manipulation capability. ALACRANE consists of a tracked vehicle with a 4-DOF articulated arm, whose end-effector is an independent pair of 3-DOF manipulators (LR-Arms) plus a common rotation on the main arm wrist.

Thickest recorded Holocene reef section, Isla Pérez core hole, Alacran Reef, Mexico
Geology, 1977The Isla Perez core hole (Alacran Reef, Mexico) records the thickest Holocene section (33.5 m) known from either Atlantic or Indo-Pacific reefs. The high rate of deposition of reef material—a maximum of 12m/l,000 yr—is attributed to accumulation of the open framework constructed by the rapidly growing coral Acropora cervicornis .
