Development of ALACRANE: A Mobile Robotic Assistance for Exploration and Rescue Missions
2007 IEEE International Workshop on Safety, Security and Rescue Robotics, 2007The paper presents ALACRANE, a new mobile robot assistant for exploration and rescue missions with dexterous load manipulation capability. ALACRANE consists of a tracked vehicle with a 4-DOF articulated arm, whose end-effector is an independent pair of 3-DOF manipulators (LR-Arms) plus a common rotation on the main arm wrist.

Terrace climbing of the Alacrane mobile robot with cooperation of its onboard arm
2012 12th IEEE International Workshop on Advanced Motion Control (AMC), 2012Alacrane is a hydraulic mobile manipulator for search and rescue in disaster areas and natural environments, where surmounting elevations such as rubble mounds and terraces is usually required. The paper describes the autonomous terrace climbing maneuver of this mobile robot with the help of its powerful arm. During this operation, the arm is used both

Carbonate Sands of Isla Perez, Alacran Reef Complex, Yucatán
The Journal of Geology, 1964Beach sediments of Isla Perez consist of about 60 per cent Halimeda algae, 25 per cent coral, and 15 per cent foraminifera and others. Six discrete sediment populations are present, distinct in skeletal origin, grain size, grain shape, and position on the island.

Coral Pinnacle Sedimentation, Alacran Reef Lagoon, Mexico
SEPM Journal of Sedimentary Research, 1966ABSTRACT Coral pinnacles growing in Alacran Reef lagoon can be characterized by three different depositional environments. These are: (1), Pinnacle crest, an area of living colonial stony corals and unconsolidated sediment which is poorly sorted 2.5 coral sand, having relatively high permeability, 20% calcite, 1.6% magnesium, and 0.6% strontium; (2 ...

Opisthobranch fauna from the National Park Arrecife Alacranes, southern Gulf of Mexico
2012The opisthobranch mollusks recorded in the National Park Arrecife Alacranes, a marine protected area and the largest coral reef in the southern Gulf of Mexico, were studied during three survey periods in 2009-2010. Several substrate types: rocks, sponges, corals, sand, Thalassia beds and drifting Sargassum were analyzed.
