Monocular albedo reconstruction

2014 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2014
Reconstructing objects from monocular input video data is a challenging task. Since cues about shading and illumination are ambiguous from a single viewpoint, simultaneously distinguishing between material properties, texture, and illumination is infeasible. To properly reconstruct scene illumination a model of the object surface is mandatory.

Pollution and the Planetary Albedo

Atmospheric Environment, 1974
Addition of cloud nuclei by pollution can lead to an increase in the solar radiation reflected by clouds. The reflection of solar energy by clouds already may have been increased by the addition of man-made cloud nuclei. The albedo of a cloud is proportional to optical thickness for thin clouds, but changes more slowly with increasing thickness.

The albedo of Titan

Icarus, 1974
The irradiance of Titan has been measured from 0.50 to 1.08 micron in 30 A bandpasses spaced 0.01 to 0.02 micron apart. Geometric albedos have been computed at the wavelengths of measurement using a standard solar flux distribution after Labs and Neckel (1967).
